Summary: Beautiful !
Review: This is a book about love and truth. You may not understand it at first, because we all wear different colored glasses depending on our religious teachings. But as I listened to Betty on Coast-to-Coast, it became clear to me. It doesn't matter what religion you're in. A Christian can love, a Muslim can love, a Pagan can love -- and yes, love is what it's all about. Your religion is simply the temple you have chosen for your learning this time around, and all religions are facets of the one cosmic diamond.

Souls choose hard lessons for noble purposes. A soul may choose to be abused so they can have that experience and help other souls, later on in this life or in the next, who are being abused. A soul may choose a handicap for that same reason, or to be a teacher, showing others how to sacrifice in the name of love. We cannot judge another's purpose, and we cannot see the wounds in their souls. Only God can. Love and forgiveness, and yes, the law of sacrifice, are the only things we will take with us into eternity.

There is no need for concern. We will all meet our deities when we die, and they will all take us to the Great One. And my goodness, with all the galaxies out there to explore, and all the forms of life in other dimensions, how can we ever be bored? Betty's book gives only a glimpse of what's waiting for us. And it's a wonderful as God is.

Summary: My Fav. NDE Books ¿ I¿ve Been There Too
Review: One day in 1995 I died, and had a NDE. Ever since then, I've been reading everything I can on the subject. According to most stories I've read, I had an unusual one, not going down a tunnel, but experiencing many interesting phenomena all the same. It seems to me that there are some NDE books and magazine articles that are just hype, and published just to give recognition. I have found, through my many years and multitudes of books on the subject, that there is an underlining truth and spirit that pervades the true experiences. So, I have compiled a list of my best reads for NDE books - ones that I consider genuine and adding validating light to the personal NDE experience. I have left out compilations, these are personal narratives. I hope you enjoy them too.
Embraced by the Light ------by Betty J. Eadie
Psychic Gifts ---------by Tiffany Snow
Saved by the Light --------by Dannion Brinkley
4 Days in Eternity ---------by Wayne F.A. Marentette
After the Light -------------by Kimberly Clark Sharp

Summary: Empowering and Thought Provoking
Review: After reading many books by several empowering authors such as Dannion Brinkley, John Edward, Sylvia Browne, and Tiffany Snow, that I am still reading, my life has opened up to me in such a compelling and wonderful way. This book is well written, and thought provoking. There are great transforming authors, who shift the consciousness of humankind in a way never known before, and have the courage to reveal their paranormal experiences. "Embraced" is one of these.

Summary: Opposite of a Horror Book
Review: This book is great in uncovering possibilities, hope, and some reassurance that good is better than evil. Very fantastic descriptions that seem sometimes hard to believe. It is like the opposite of a horror book, by going into various abstractions of love, good feelings, and good deeds. I like the fact that is has enraged some Pagans, or those who think they know about the afterlife. This book can help you understand that the afterlife can be much more than anyone has anticipated.

Summary: infuriating and childish
Review: I borrowed this book from the library, and it was so disturbing! I am of a Pagan religion, and I can't believe that the author only goes into one paragraph on people of other religious faiths! Then she comes back and says, "We will all know Christ in this life or the next" and then she proceeds to write another book on how Jesus appears to people of other religions and seems to convert them??? I do not believe in Jesus, and I hate how Ms. Eadie quoted scripture from the Bible! There are 26 versions of the Bible, so how can it be the unaltered word of god? It's like Jesus was saying, "You can believe whatever you want, but you're wrong and you'll be sorry when you meet me." I do think we should love and respect each other more, but the love-is-all-that-matters message belongs in a child's fairy tale. This is the real world, and love isn't everything. I also hated how, when the author was brought before the council of men, she discovered and accepted that, "Men have their roles, and I have mine." Excuse me??? Is that all were good for- having children??? I do not want to meet Jesus or a god if he doesn't treat men and women equally! I also don't think a loving god would allow bad things to happen and then chalk it uu to a spiritual agreement that we can't remember here in the physical world, as Ms. Eadie does. That's too easy a solution! Victims do exist, and I don't think an incest victim wants to hear that she/he chose to be attacked in order to grow spiritually. The author claims to be friends with really old guys in long flowing robes who are monks??? What drugs was she on?? And warrior angels running around with clubs saying they're going to fight Satan? That cracks me up! But this book put me in a spiritual crisis, and it seems to want to convert all it's readers to Christianity. I'd like to meet my own deities when I die, and my view of the afterlife would be a bit more realistic than the author's. Her message was too positive- merry-sunshine type. If you're a dihard believer in Christ, this book is for you, but a much better book is Sylvia Browne's "Life on the Other Side- A Psychic's Tour of the Afterlife". Ms. Eadie wants to tell us all that this book, and Christ's message, ie truth, and "there is only one truth." But in the words of Marion Zimmer Bradley, truth has many faces, and what is real for one person might not be real for another.

Summary: COMFORT
Review: Excellent source of comfort for individuals who a not "sure" what to believe! If you need to believe in something then why not this? Great book, well worth the reading.

Summary: NDE (Natural DRUG Experience)
Review: If you are someone who 'wants' to believe in an afterlife, but are the LEAST bit skepical in its existance, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK ! This book will increase any doubts that you now have.
I am sure that her comments on love of your fellow man are sincere, however I find the whole "story" quite disturbing. This book belongs in the catagory along with Jack and the Beanstalk and Humpty Dumpty. Jesus pleading with her to reconsider her decision to stay, meeting with the Council to evaluate her decision, warring Incredible Hulk like angels rushing off to fight demons ?? ... c'mon, .... she needs to check with the hospital records to find out just what type of drugs she was on prior to her trip to near sainthood.
I am somewhat skeptical of NDE's, but I am also one who is searching for a reason to believe in them. Betty J. Eadie's "trip" to heaven has only increased my uncertainty. I now have increased doubts about the credibility of other authors in this same field. I truly regret reading this book.

Summary: We are spiritual beings having a human expirience,
Review: I sobbed aloud when I read Betty's book. What are the chances of someone a world away having an expirience that so closely resembles your own. Betty is so brave for sharing an extremely expirience that I know will help so many others. I know she saw those things and I know that they are real. So what if no one can explain them with science or any other reasoning we have now, there is so much in this world we don't understand and so much more we don't even know we don't know!! The garden, but most importantly the LOVE is real.

Summary: Feminism: Erased by the light
Review: Having now read both Harold Sherman and Betty Eadle on the subject of life after death, I am still greatly perturbed by the possibility of eternity without baseball or beer, and eternity itself still sounds like it could be boring.

However, the following edited quotation from the Eadle book was somewhat invigorating.

*...I was led to a room, which was exquisitely built and appointed. I entered and saw a group of men seated around the long side of a kidney-shaped table. I was led to stand in front of them within the indented portion of the table. One thing struck me almost immediately; there were twelve men here - MEN - but no women.*

*As a rather independent thinker on earth, I was sensitive to the roles of women in the world. I was concerned about their equality and fair treatment and had very strong opinions as to their ability to compete with men on an equal footing in most settings.*

*I might have reacted unfavorably to this council of men and no women, but I was learning to have a new perspective about the differing roles of men and women...*

*With this new perspective, I had no reaction to the council being comprised solely of men. I accepted the fact that they had their roles and I had mine.*

WELL! How about THAT? There are large numbers of uppity females and effete males who are in for a rude awakening someday.

Because everything that those much-maligned reactionary male religious leaders said in the past really WAS true. Male supremacy and sexual differentiation really ARE the will of God and are eternal.

If THAT'S not a reason to overcome one's fear of death, I don't know what is. If this isn't worth five stars, I don't know what is.

Summary: A must read in the field of near-death experiences
Review: I heard an interview (probably on NPR radio) with Betty Eadie, and wrote down the name of this book on a slip of paper because I found her to be quite fascinating. On page 29 she writes "I heard a soft buzzing sound in my head and continued to sink until I felt my body become still and lifeless." I have always described my own slip into unconsciousness the same way, a buzzing sound in my head that reminded me of a humming electrical wire. Pages 58 and 59 were amazing, simple and somewhat obvious truths that escape most humans - she deals with the powers of postive thinking at length. Believe it or don't, this book makes for excellent reading. I have no criticisms - it's an excellent book, an easy and enjoyable read.
