Rating: Summary: This book will change your life! Review: This book describes the near-death experience of Betty J. Eadie. It will bring you the peace of mind you've been searching for
Rating: Summary: Learn how to live each day to the best of your ability Review: Facing a terminal illness myself, I turned to this book as a solace in the hopes it would help me to deal with my own mortality. What I found instead was a vivid and inspirational account showing me how to live out my life in a more positive and meaningful way. There is more positive energy in this book than any other book I have read on the subject. Death is inevitable and we all must come to terms with this reality in our own way; life is what you make of it each day and this books turns living into a quest for growth and outreach that makes me look forward to each and every day
Rating: Summary: Excellent! Review: Betty Eadie not only teaches you about life after death but more importantly teaches you about life and why we are here. She explains some of the most burning questions of the human soul in analogies that are so simple yet so complex. A must read for anyone with a soul
Rating: Summary: Reading this will change the way you view death. Review: A warm and readable book, the kind you don't want to put down once you start. A nice short read, for those with little time on their hands. (Great for on the Metro or bus!) It left a permanent impression on the way I view death. Betty describes in detail the events before, during, and after her near-death experience. You will never look at the "what happens when we die" question the same again. It's inspirational---a must-read for those who'd like to read a compact account of the near-death experience. It leaves you feeling that you really don't have to be afraid of death after all
Rating: Summary: Very inspiring and spiritually fulfilling Review: As I read through the lines of Betty J. Eadie's NDE account,
I realized how truly special we are. That the idea of death is not the end, not painful; is something very comforting to
learn. Now I am a firm believer that we, human beings, are
all important, all souls with a mission in life and that our time on earth is a very important one as well.
Rating: Summary: An inspirational journey that shook me to the core! Review: Reading Embraced By The Light was like taking a journey back into childhood -- to the purity and simplicity of life as it should really be lived. The beauty and awe of Ms. Eadie's near-death experience, the lessons she took back with her and her determination to communicate what she learned are truly unforgettable. Read Embraced By Light and be shaken by the "rightness" of life-lessons you thought you'd forgotten forever
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: This is a wonderfully detailed account of Betty's life after death experience. Everybody should read this book!
Rating: Summary: Why the Near Death Experience is true Review: I have read Betty's book and it changed my life. I approached this book from a totally atheistic point of view. Before that I had read "saved by the light" by Dannion Brinkly and that book perked my interest in the subject but I was very skeptical. But after reading 4 more books on the near death experience by doctors, researchers, nurses, and the experiencers them selves, I am totally convinced that this is a true phenomena. Those Christians who want to criticize Betty. Are following the Bible too strictly. They are no different than the Pharisees. Or the other Jews who said Jesus was not the messiah. You must keep an open mind and not fear new and different things. You must look into your heart for the truth. You can use material books like the Bible as a guide but only you can know god. Is Betty or the other experiencers any different than the Christians of old who had mystical experiences. Why can't one have these kinds of experiences now? And if god is ready to reveal a new truth to us how will we recognize it if we are closed to everything that is different than our past knowledge. You must have an open mind as well as a skeptical one. Stop blindly following the text of the bible or any book, it's not like you really fully understand it's meaning anyway. I have discovered that my lack of an open mind has been my biggest blockage to the truth. Fear is the enemy, love is our savior. That's all there is to it. Anyway, I Highly recommend the book. END
Rating: Summary: Definately New Age Garbage Review: Makes the reader think it is a Jesus related book but it really is a New Age idea of near death experience contrary to God's word. Don't buy it.
Rating: Summary: The science of Theology Review: 1. Everything was created of spirit matter.
Are we to understand that all things were created first spiritually and then physically? So the beginning of God's work was to create all things spiritually as the pattern for what was created physically. After being created physically, it becomes our mission to become spiritually prepared to return back into the presence of God. Thus man's high attainment is too gain immortality and eternal life, the highest spiritual achievement possible and thus God's work is to bring to pass this last work.
2. There is no space that is not occupied by God's light and love. Are we to understand that space is infinite and that it is not an infinite void? The light of God spreads through the infinite boundaries of space and there is no space that is not filled with his light and love. God is all powerful, all present, and all knowledgeable. Jesus is the great creator or all things, the great Jehovah.
3. All life operates in spheres of intelligence and governed by law.
Are we to understand that every creature resides within a kingdom realm and this creature has both felicity and glory upon which it operates and these creatures abide the laws of their kingdoms? It would seem that each kingdom is given a law and for every law certain bounds and conditions apply. So, if natural governs life through laws of nature does man have the right and power to alter these laws through genetic engineering? If the body is designed to exist forever with cell differentiation and rejuvenation but nature transmits signals for the immortal cell to die does man have the right to turn off that signal and thus prolong life indefinitely from death by natural causes? Furthermore, can we conclude that all truth resides within the sphere that God placed it and that truth operates in independent for itself? Therefore, one concludes that all existence comes about because of intelligence and intelligence operates in independent spheres in which God placed it. Why does God create these spheres of truth? The answer implies and anthropomorphic conclusion that God organized these spheres for man. The earth's existence is perfectly designed to be suitable for man. Considering all the infinite possible existences that could have occurred, God chose the existence that was hospitable for man: an atmosphere that supported life, a magnetic core that regulates the environment, and jet streams that control precipitation from the oceans.
4. Death is a rebirth.
The connotation of rebirth suggests an emerging from one existence into another existence. This is a fascinating proposition where a real experience can be experienced of passing through a tunnel, emerging into a light, being surround by loved ones, and seeing a spiritual realm similar to the temporal realm with gardens, buildings, and familiar friends and family members and being given to opportunity to continue growth through "pure knowledge" rather than "faith and endurance". Furthermore, it seems that the veil that blocks our perfect understand of God will be removed and we will know with out spiritual self the true nature of God. Considering the amount of light and truth we possess at the time of our death will determine our advantages in the after life.
5. Jesus ministry was to teach love. Love is the most important lesson we can learn in this life.
Are we to understand that Jesus mission was to teach love? What are the two great commandments? Love God with all your heart, might, mind, and strength and the second like it, love your neighbor as yourself. In Deuteronomy, Mose as prototype of Jesus also taught these great commandments. Jesus did not come to destroy the prophets but full fill. Jesus was the great healer, his healings were done out of compassion and love. Jesus taught us to serve one another and gain joy through service. Jesus lived a high law than the law of Mose as demonstrated in the parable of the Good Samaritan. Within the parable, all the actor were within the ridged law of Mose and therefore exempt from punishment; however, the Good Samaritan a despised remnant of Jewish and Babylon intermarriage was not obligated to help, yet he showed great love for his neighbor. When we show compassion and love for our neighbor and give freely to the poor and naked, did we not do this unto Jesus? Our acts of love for the poor and hungry may someday cause us to hear the words, "I will see you in heaven". Our temporal weakness has been overcome by our spiritual determination.
6. When we came to earth a veil of forgetfulness prevents us from seeing the past.
Are we to understand that God placed a veil of forgetfulness as we pasted from spiritual to temporal? Temporally man strives in a world of Jealousy, pride, and fear of his own existence. A chasm forms between God and man and man seems to be the enemy of God. The chasm is narrowed as man humbles himself before God and submits his will with God. Therefore, faith and love begin as man becomes meek, humble, and submissive to the will of God. By kindiness and pure knowledge God completes the bridge and man comes to understand his true spiritual self and his relationship with God. The separation not longer exists and man has overcome his probation and test.
7. We are all God's children.
Are we to understand that God has a mission for us and are at different levels of spiritual understanding? A child learns from his parents: culture, beliefs, values, and history. As children of God, we are preparing to understand God, and are learning by experience and observation the knowledge of God. Each of us has spiritual needs that a loving God provides for us. We must learn to love and get along as good children of God.
8. Jesus is a separate being from God the Father.
Are we to understand that God has a tangible body like man? Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ are two separate beings. The Holy Ghost does not have a body of flesh and bones. Therefore, Jesus speaks or acts in the authority of the Father as the stewart or savior of all mankind.
9. We were given agency to act for ourselves. God promised not to interfere unless we ask his help.
Are we to understand that God expects us to pray to him for help and strength, otherwise, he will not interfere. God will not force us back into heaven. We must choose to yield to the enticing promptings of the Holy Ghost and become a saint through the atonement of Christ. If man decides not to turn to God, God will not violate the principle of agency and force him to comply. Man learns by his experience Good from evil through opposition. As man becomes more meek, submissive, and childlike in his relationship with God, God in turn begins to act upon this man teaching him truths, granting power, and expanding his knowledge of that which is just and true.
10. The weakness of the flesh must be overcome with the strength of the spirit.
Are we to understand that the temporal body can be a burden to the spirit? Presuppose, we are enlightened beings of existence before gaining a temporal body and that in many cases our assignment was to grow, learn, and experience suffering then it is logical that the temporal body would be a burden. Only God knows when the experience is sufficient and the learning complete. This implies that God both understands our situation and empathizes with a perfect understanding our experiences and shares in our delight in understanding. The purpose for this experience is between the individual and God and is shielded from the general populace as to the purpose. So, we may think the vagrant on the street as despised of man but not understand his purposes as dictated by God. Therefore, we should not judge incorrectly. Instead, we must introspectively examine our own falts and repair them before God.
11. Each Element in the Universe has intelligence.
Are we to understand the elements govern the cosmos and the elements are intelligent? The element has always existed. The element operates on principles of intelligence. God communicates with the elements and they respond. Therefore, this means that a higher intelligence has power over a lower intelligence. God's intelligence must supercede the intelligence of the elements. So, in the beginning was the word and the word was good. By the power God's word or intelligence, he created the cosmos and worlds without end. The glory of God is Intelligence. Light cleaves to light and truth to truth. Man's quest is too gain as much in intelligence as possible in this life.
