Rating: Summary: Interesting, But Unconvincing Review: This book is interesting, but after one gets into it far enough, discrepancies and contradictions which are hard to explain away appear. For example: all religions are valid, but the author's a Christian and she meets Jesus in heaven. Other improbable ideas include: spirits learning things by returning to a lower level, the experience depending on her beliefs here on earth, her praise of self-denial, reincarnation, etc. Even as it attempts to spread Christian propaganda, it doesn't stick to mainstream Christian theology. For me to seriously consider what she is saying, I'd need a little more objective view from someone perhaps who had an NDE but didn't have any convictions about religion at all.
Rating: Summary: Life altering Review: I was introduced to "Embraced" by a good friend of mine. I am not a common reader but something inspired me to pick up this book and read. I have always felt close to God, sometimes more than others, but this book is exactley what I needed. I agree with the feeling of skepticism at times but my heart tells me that every bit of this book is true.It gave me a since of comfort and built back so much of my faith in God. I have since then read "Awakening of the Heart" and was again very pleased and greatful for people like Betty to spread her message and God's Love to all of us.
Rating: Summary: Easy read, but something to cogitate over Review: I picked up this book planning to read it little by little, but instead surprised myself by finishing the entire book in one day. The book was an extremely easy reading because everything is presented so lucidly; always getting to the point of things and showing us the simple "truth." Although I am a bit skeptical about certain topics presented in the book, it was worth reading and provided something about life to chew on, which is better than if the book seemed entirely believable or extremely far fetched. For the most part, I enjoyed it.
Rating: Summary: the best of all books Review: have passed on to all my family and my friends iI play the audio of Embraced and The awakening heart in my car when I'm going to work or any where. Bette has made my life livable. Recommend to any one who is lost in the living world of today. If someone you know has lost someone close then send Embraced by the LIght to them instead of flowers or a card. It will really save them also.
Rating: Summary: It was a very interesting book. Review: I found this book very interesting. Although she obvious beleives she was dead, I don't. However, a lot of what she wrote expanded my outlook on why we are put on this planet, and I deffinately recomend it.
Rating: Summary: Embraced by the "light" of Mormonism Review: For those who have been embraced by the "light" of Betty Eadie's "experiences", I urge you to take a close, critical look at the theology/cult of Mormonism and you will see her "visions" in a very different "light".
Rating: Summary: Why the Near Death Experience is true Review: I have read Betty's book and it changed my life. I approached this book from a totally atheistic point of view. Before that I had read "saved by the light" by Dannion Brinkly and that book perked my interest in the subject but I was very skeptical. But after reading 4 more books on the near death experience by doctors, researchers, nurses, and the experiencers them selves, I am totally convinced that this is a true phenomena. Those Christians who want to criticize Betty. Are following the Bible too strictly. They are no different than the Pharisees. Or the other Jews who said Jesus was not the messiah. You must keep an open mind and not fear new and different things. You must look into your heart for the truth. You can use material books like the Bible as a guide but only you can know god. Is Betty or the other experiencers any different than the Christians of old who had mystical experiences. Why can't one have these kinds of experiences now? And if god is ready to reveal a new truth to us how will we recognize it if we are closed to everything that is different than our past knowledge. You must have an open mind as well as a skeptical one. Stop blindly following the text of the bible or any book, it's not like you really fully understand it's meaning anyway. I have discovered that my lack of an open mind has been my biggest blockage to the truth. Fear is the enemy, love is our savior. That's all there is to it. Anyway, I Highly recommend the book. END
Rating: Summary: Great, uplifting book Review: This book evokes two reactions. One, hope and belief in the after-life. The second, disbelief.
The reader goes through various emotions as one goes through this book. Joy, peace, calm, disbelief, etc.
I've read this book twice and each time it appeals to different facets of your life, depending on what kind of situations you are going through
All in all a great book to read to get a proper perspective on our own mission in life and our role as parents (especially those with difficult kids!)
Rating: Summary: Are you sure, Ms. Eadie??? Review: I took a look at this book, hoping to gain some
additional spiritual insight along with what
I've read in other books. By the time I got to
the chapter on Ms. Eadie's death, I already started questioning the accuracy of her
report on her near-death experience. For one
thing, it seems to focus on a Christian point of
view, leaving no room for other faiths.
From another passage I read, I got this
impression that God segregates between the
two sexes and treats one as being "more
spiritual" than the other.
For anyone who wants a good introduction
to spirituality, I recommend Wayne Dyer's
book, "Your Sacred Self", instead.
"Embraced by the Light" simply didn't cut
it. Rating: Summary: Very Cautious Review: This book attempts to put our fears away about our dying but conflicts with mainstream Christian beliefs. Also there are questions about who the doctor was in which Eadie will not although he is dead. This book is laced with Mormon(whom she admits is an active member), newage, and occult views of point. As you read her later books, this becomes more noticeable. It is a book that you want to believe but I came away with the "Oh_Oh" feeling
