Summary: Pure BS.
Review: An attempt to align afterlife experiences with religious/church dogma and personal belife. Possible creation of immediate afterdeath experiences with already developed beliefs. A disservice to other researchers in this area.

Summary: Very comforting for anyone facing death
Review: Betty Eadie has courage for sharing the spiritual lessons she learned. It gives the reader a warm and uplifting experience. Her story is particularly comforting for mothers. Traditionalists may be threatened by her report of the spiritual world and what really matters. I hope this book can open a few more minds and hearts.

Summary: This book strongly shaped my beliefs.
Review: I found Betty Eadie's experience that she described in her book to be amazing. I have to believe life after death is exactly as she described. I shared the book with many (ripple effect), and felt compelled to read it again when my mother became terminally ill. My mother passed away last week, and I know she has been on a "tour" of the wonderful place we all will go. I gave a copy of Betty's book to my Father, and hope he will gain comfort in Betty's experience as I have.

Summary: Embellished, At Best
Review: I have read EVERYTHING I can get my hands on about the life after this one, and feel that, after years of study, I know it as well as I can without actually experiencing it myself, but this one just didn't mesh with all the others. I'm not saying that the author didn't have an experience; I am saying that I feel very strongly that her story is GREATLY embellished for entertainment value--and very entertaining it is. However, I feel that having an especially sacred experience such as this is treated as such by those who have such an honor, and not exploited. Yes, these experiences are shared and written, but carefully and guarded. Like I said, this book was very entertaining, but from someone who has studied the topic for years--it just didn't "scrub". I wouldn't recommend it, except as an easy, fictional read.

Review: JUST HAVE A QUESTION. I'VE HEARD ALOT OF PEOPLE TALK ABOUT THE LIGHT OR DOOR, BUT NO ONE HAS SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THE MASK IN THE DARKNESS. DOES ANYONE EXPERIANCE THIS? MHo5841796

Review: Four years ago I lost my Mother to cancer, I found this book among her belongings only recently, and began reading it immediatly, this one book has brought to me a whole new joy and hope for the future, and beyond. Thank you Ms. Eadie, I am now more at ease and acceptable of the loss of my mother. PRAISE THE LORD!!

Summary: This book helped me get in touch with my late brother.
Review: Being an openminded art student whose brother just passed suddenly, I was ready to look at the other side of life-with this book. I was scared to face the reality of his death and yet wanted so much to get closer to his spirit. Her descriptions of death and conversations with the spirit world only widened my imagination about the wonderfullness my brother must be experiencing. The book was truthfully real and simply read. Betty J. Eadie's story has inspired me to paint my feelings about my brother with halos of light surrounding the figures heads. I wanted to show the love I was sure he was sending me through our spiritual connection. Without a doubt, I wouldn't have felt as comfortable expressing- nor would be able to express as well, without reading her book. Thankyou Betty... For those of you who have read this book (you'll know what I'm talking about), I think this book is the reason she had to come back to earth....

Summary: The message itself is worth the five stars
Review: The message I got was this: Love is what matters. I know it sounds like a Jewel song, but Betty Eadie did a good job in emphasizing that message. People are right to question the authenticity of her experience, based on the issue of not revealing the doctor, waiting 20 years, etc. However, we all have the ability to determine what is true and what is not based on the peace we have in our own experience. I am an active membmer of the Mormon church, and a lot of what Betty says does jive with Mormon dogma. A lot of what she says does not set well with the Mormon orthodox. Stop being afraid of this book, and use your own ability to determine truth from falsehood. To my way of thinking, the fact that she, as a practicing Mormon, would state things that don't sound consistent with Mormon dogma actually gives the book MORE credibility. Otherwise, it could just be seen as another missionary tool. Then again, maybe I think that because I'm willing to believe that there's a chance that when I get on the other side of this life I'll find out that I was full of crap the whole time. I'm sick of hearing my fellow church members criticize the book because she doesn't fully endorse the LDS church. Yo, fellow Mormons, all churches ARE true, especially if they get someone closer to God. Everyone has the right to be spiritual, not just us. She also says there is a "fulness of the gospel," so that ought to pacify your myopic heart. I read this book years ago, and I remember how much comfort it gave to so many people. I also met someone else who had an afterlife experience and wrote a book about it. She said Eadie's experience was completely consistent with her own. I witheld a star, because the book is not all that well written, and the credibility questions are valid. However, having watched my mother, who was a big fan of the book, take comfort from the messages in the book about the journey she was about to take as she lay on her deathbed, I am convinced that this book is a valuable read. Maybe even more than once. Stop ANAL-yzing this thing. If it doesn't live for you, then fine. Otherwise, I think Betty Eadie has done a valuable service for millions of people, and she deserves every penny she gets.

Summary: Going Home
Review: A dear friend of mine asked me to give the book to a friend whom was dieing of Aids in 1995. I brought the book home and in the process of caring for the patient and working, simply forgot about the book. The patient was admitted to a nursing home for extensive care and I discovered the book on my bureau. During my friends illness I found it difficult to talk with him, unsure of the correct things to say to a dear friend that was dying. I picked up the book and could not stop reading....I was awakened at 6:30 A.M. the following morning by the nursing home that my friend had summoned my mother and I, that the time was near. In our journey (40 miles away) my mothers prayer was that David would not die alone. As we arrived, he was waiting, my mother sat down beside him, and after her greeting, started receiting the Lords' Prayer, his nurse was singing a beautiful gospel song, and I on the other side of the bed, spoke to him and began telling him of the journey that he was about to make. How he would be greeted and welcomed, and how he would walk through the beautiful rose garden and hear the glorious voices of God singing. I asked him if he could hear me and see what I was describing, and if he could - to give me a sign, and a teardrop fell down the right side of his cheek. I was elated and anxious to continue the outline of his journey and eliminate his fears. I told him that he would see the light and that it would warm his body and his pain would cease. I told him that when he reached his destination I could see him directing the choir and to send me some kind of brainwave to let me know how things really were up-there! (Smiles) I asked him to be my guardian angel and to help me out here on earth. More tears fell, and shortly thereafter God slipped in between my mother, the nurse and myself and David began his journey. I am sharing this experience with you because Ms. Eadies' book gave me the courage to say goodbye to a friend. I have shared the book with other bereaved families and it has been a consulation to them. Several weeks passed and I was at work and I looked up and saw a vision of David in the doorway, and naturally I wanted to talk, talk, talk. I knew from the depths of my heart that he had walked to the light and my heart was truly happy. That was Davids' sign to me that we remain friends today and his journey is complete.

Summary: Most enlightening book I ever read
Review: Embraced by the Light, by Betty J. Eadie, is one of the most enlightening and comforting books I have ever read. I find it comforts the living, those who know their time is short, and those who have just lost someone. It is a book that all mankind should read. Betty Eadie's remembrance of her near death experience is phenomenal and a treasure to be shared with everyone, and she shares it beautifully. This is a book I will never be without, and neither should anyone else...you never know when you might need it, either for yourself or for a friend.
