Rating: Summary: Simple uncluttered information Review: A perfect bright blend of North American wilflower gems. A best best book for 'budding' wildflower enthusiasts, habitat gardeners and grow-it-yourselfers. Provides academic quality information on the care and propogation of North American species, geographical range information for those creating representations of locally native gardens/habitats. Interesting characteristics of each plant reveal the devotion and delight of the author in native flora and advocating for them to be more accessible and familiar in our competitive and often harmful mass market landscape. The purity of learning to bring back and nurture native wildflowers clearly shines through in Art's book. The author's illustrations are enticing, they may even lure you into picking up a pencil and sketchpad to give it a try.
Besides aesthetics, other very good and practical reasons for the whole idealolgy of wildflowers are listed in this book. How can anyone resist a patch of Brown-eyed Susans that all but water themselves in the worst of droughts?
A beautiful book that never will be obsolete, much like the showering beauty of wildflowers themselves.
