Review: Donald Kapraun has created a very valuable small handbook for the identification of the benthic Rhodophyta of the coastal waters of the Carolinas. The book is concise with easy to use keys and excellent descriptions of taxa. His diagrams of whole structures as well as cross and longitudinal sections are easily understood. With keys, descriptions, drawings and a glossary, the book is a well done and essential tool for experienced as well as novice phycologists.
