Rating: Summary: A must Review: A full update of this guidebook, previously called the Adventure Guide to Florida's West Coast. This book takes in all the cities, towns, nature preserves, wilderness areas and sandy beaches that grace the Sunshine State's western shore. Covers Tampa Bay to Naples and Everglades National Park to Sanibel Island. Canoeing the Everglades, hiking on Gasparilla Island, exploring the history of Tampa's Ybor City - it's all here! Plus it has good town and regional maps. "These useful guides are highly recommended... " Library Journal "[Adventure Guides] direct you away from the theme parks and into the great outdoors... the information on trekking routes, canoeing, wildlife refuges - even golf courses - is well researched." The Sunday Telegraph "...intended for the adventure-minded travelers with special affection for the outdoors and nature. Each Adventure Guide packs in outdoor-oriented activities set in different regions. There's something for nearly everyone." Midwest Book Review

Rating: Summary: waste of money Review: Before travelling to a place I like to read a travel guidebook to orientate myself. I bought the book based on the rave reviews of other readers on this page. I usually find Amazon reviews helpful. In this case, I was completely mislead. The book is a complete waste of money. You are much better off getting a copy of the Rough Guide or Lonely Planet to Florida (better information, better written, better editing). I like to occassionally buy guidebooks outside the mainstream press, sometimes it works; in this case it was a utter failure. I can only imagine that some of the reviewers on the page are friends or relatives of the author or the publisher.
Rating: Summary: For adventure on Florida's west coast, just add water. Review: There's water everywhere you look around here. Of course, there's that big bathtub known as the Gulf of Mexico at our front door. Add the Intracoastal Waterway (our 'tween islands highway), rivers great, small, and pristine, the Everglades' River of Grass and maze-like Ten Thousand Islands, and you have all the makings for a get out and get wet adventure. Hop in a boat, strap on some skis, start dipping that paddle or flapping those fins: you're destined for a "swimming" good time here in my homeland. This book covers the Tampa-St. Pete playground south to the mysterious Everglades, land of endless adventure. It includes Sarasota, Siesta Key, Sanibel Island, Naples, and all of your favorite semitropical vacation spots
