Summary: Awesome pictures of lions . . . .
Review: If you are at all fascinated by lions, you have to get this book. It's got some annoying typos in the text, but let's face it, you buy books like this one for the pictures. And the pictures are amazing! Some are so up close that a male lion's face fills the entire page. The colors are rich, showing off the lions' fur nicely, or the African landscape.

The book is divided into sections on anatomy, social behavior, care of the young, and eating. If you find lion cubs irresistably adorable (as I do), the section on the young will knock you over. I don't know how the authors managed to get so close (even with a telephoto lens) to get some of the shots they did (cub suckling on mom, three cubs climbing up a tree).

Typos aside, the text is fine. I learned that lion cubs like to roll around in elephant poop(!).
