Rating: Summary: The Sima SUR-20 delivers enjoyment! Review: SIMA SUR-20 Universal Remote Control - There are many universal remote controllers but many may seem impractical to use when trying to adapt to the wide-range of functions that 8 products might require. Button functions may be cumbersome requiring 2 or more actions to deliver a function that originally needed only 1 button - The SIMA SUR-20 Universal Remote Control uses a special touchpad instead of buttons allowing for greater and easier control of up to 8 remote products - Automatically learns the remote-protocols from all your existing remote controllers - Each of these 8 devices can be programmed with up to 25 macro commands that simplify operations to make it seem that you re using the remote originally intended for the product - Large backlit LCD screen beneath the touchpad is easy-to-read and fully customizable - 1 MB Flash Memory is built-in so it can remember all protocols and custom settings - Uses 4 AAA batteries (not included) Have more fun with your home-theater system!
Rating: Summary: Sima SUR-20 LCD Touch Screen IR Remote Review: The unit operates as advertised. Only draw back is inability to change labels on function keys. (Except for normal rotations allowed by the built in software.)
Rating: Summary: Better but not best Review: This is a very good universal remote, but don't throw away your original remotes. You still need your original remotes when you need to adjust the picture on your TV, program your VCR, or set up your satellite system. The draw backs are that each device can only have 27 buttons and all the layouts must conform to the same key layout. To say that you can rename each key is misleading. You can merely choose among two to four choices or leave the key blank. In the end, it is a convenience product and it provides enough to justify the price premium.
Rating: Summary: The best remote for this price range and up... Review: This is definitely the best lcd display remote control that I have purchased. This is actually my third LCD display universal remote, and I will say by far it is the best and the least expensive. It is very easy to see and learning it you don't even need the instructions, seriously, it is that easy. This had some tough competition better than the rest more expensive ones.
Rating: Summary: VERYYYY GOOOOOOOD Review: This product was so good. In fact I use it on all my tv/satelite/audio components. I would definetly reccomend this to anyone. So far the batteries have lasted me 3 months!!! VERY GOOD PERFORMANCE
Rating: Summary: Great remote. Lacks advanced features. Review: This remote is great however, it lacks buttons for advanced features on some dvd players (you know, the kind of features that you don't need and don't use when watching movies). It's too wide for me to hold with one hand and press buttons with your thumb. I also found that I had memorized where the buttons on my last remote were by touch. This will most likely be impossible with this one since all the buttons are on a flat screen. Still I had to give it 4 stars cause it's so easy to use. You don't have to wory about all those codes and stuff. Just teach it with another remote. It's really sweet. And if you've read some of the other reviews: I have dropped it twice on low pile carpet and it's still kicking. He's a tough little guy. If you've tried other universal remotes and had stuff that was incompatable you need this remote. Or at least another remote with a learn function.
Rating: Summary: Very good all -in- one remote. Review: Very nice. Very high cool factor. Prices have come down from the initial $(...) Currently selling for between $(...) and $(...) Good value for money. All my friends want to get one. Universal remote was able to learn all the functions of my Comcast Digital cable, Denon A/V receiver, Mitsubishi DVD player and Mitsubishi TV tuner with no problems except for my TV tuner's four video input selectors that might require me to program macros. Didn't need to program any numeral codes unlike previous universal remotes that I have used. Backlit light works great but might be a problem say in the afternoons in a well lit room (All backlit PDAs etc have the same problem). Would highly recommend.
Rating: Summary: stay away from touch-screen layout Review: Well, it looks really cool on a picture does not it? When you actually use for a couple a month or even less you would regret that you EVER bought this universal control. As any touch-screen device the glass on this thing get so dirty because they dont give you any pen/pencil to press on buttons so you just have to use your fingers. If something spills - this is a history. ALso it does not work for all model TVs so if you have Toshiba or any other model you better get ready to run back to the store for a refund!
Rating: Summary: All the functions you'll need BUT... Review: What I liked: VERY easy to program this remote either through preset codes or through learning function. The LCD screen layout can be customized for each function which allows for great flexibility. BUT: The more I used this remote the less I liked it. For example, how often have you (or someone in your family) accidentaly dropped the TV remote. With this LCD screen you'll probably only be lucky enough to drop this thing ONCE! Also, not having actual buttons to push makes it very hard to channel surf, change volume, get program info, etc. without having to look at the remote each time you press a "button". The LCD screen on this remote is a bit hard to see at times and the backlight doesn't help unless the room is very dark. I ended up returning this unit and purchasing the RCA RCU810 remote. Although not quite as flexible as this one, it has just about everything thing you would need in a moderate home theater setup -- and it doesn't look like it will break after someone accidentally drops it on the floor!
