Summary: Just got it for Christmas
Review: This is the first review that I have written for Amazon.com, and I decided to write on this product because I was so impressed with it right out of the box. First of all, I haven't even looked at the full user's manual yet. They include a 2-page quick start guide, and that's all I needed to get all of my devices working. I currently have the following devices totally configured on my commander remote:
- Mitsubishi 50" TV
- Panasonic Replay TV
- Pioneer Amp/Receiver
- Pioneer DVD Player- Motorola Digital Cable Box All I had to do was look up the product number in the catalog that came with the remote. It may have taken me a total of 20 minutes to get all of these devices working. The only problems were that I was missing a few buttons from my ReplayTV remote, and the ability to change DVD's in my 3-disc DVD player was missing. That's when I figured out how to use the remote's "learning" function. After another 5-10 minutes, I added 3 new buttons to my ReplayTV screen and 3 more to my DVD screen. The remote commander now controls all of my devices with every function available to me that I had with my old remotes. After I got everything up and running, I decided to try some of the advanced Macro features. I couldn't think of anything I really needed this for, so I just decided to set one up that turns all of my devices on/off with one click. Again this only took 2-3 minutes to program. All in all, this remote does everything that it advertises. It is very easy to use and program, and it includes enough cool customization options that it can virtually replace any remote.

Summary: Cool, But Complicated to Program
Review: This remote is extremely powerful and flexible. I was able to program all six of my remotes to operate via this single unit. Sony provides quite a large number of preset systems that only require a single code to program the RM-3000. Ironically, the only Sony component I have in my system was not available in the list of preset devices. There are several items that detract from the useability of this product. First, the user manual SUCKS. It doesn't provide very good details on how to manually program the unit for remotes that are not preset. Also, for the remotes that are pre-programmed, not all of the functions of the device remote are preset; they have to be manually programmed. Last little item, programming (or LEARNING) the RM-3000 is not for the faint of heart. While the RM-3000 provides great flexibility in configuring for various devices and functions, programming the unit takes a bit of time to figure out, and it is a tedious process. I would not recommend programming this unit if you are not a technophile. Basically, this is a great remote control device but you had better be prepared to spend some time setting it up and teaching it to replace all of the functions of your individual remotes.

Summary: Great remote, needs works
Review: We got this remote for Christmas 2003. Most of our components are Sony (DVD, VCR, AMP, TV)so had it up and running within a few minutes. It also comes preset with a large number of other components, so all we had to do was enter a few codes and we had the CABLE and the TIVO system we got for Christmas set up as well. For setup I'd give it 5 stars. However, it's size is an issue. It's like a large calculator. It would be great if it were shaped like the average remote control. Otherwise, I would highly recommend this product.

Summary: Outstanding - More than expected
Review: Well I hope my review helps people. I am extremely out of the ordinary as far as picky. This remote has been one of the best purchases I have made. I read maybe 15 pages of the book and had the entire remote figured out. The book is about the size of the almanac so I think only going through a few pages and figuring it out was impressive. I have setup the remote to work with all the devices I have including my air conditioner. The only device it didn't work with was my Bose receiver. I like the remote so much I'm getting rid of the receiver and purchasing a receiver to use with this remote. It don't matter what extra features your device has in the remote this remote will learn it and you can program AND label the button on the LCD screen. I have had this remote for about 3 months now and haven't had 1 issue with it at all. I give it a 10/10 and a KICK ASS SCORE! -Tom
