RCA RCU800MSL Universal Remote Control

Summary: Not all that universal...
Review: I originally bought this over a year ago for my HT Setup. I was able to program my TV (Mitsubishi) easily, but when it came to all the other devices (receiver, dvd player, ld player, vcr, etc..), it did not work. I entered in different program codes, but no luck.

Save yourself some headaches and consider looking for another universal remote.

Review: I've had two of these things and on both of them the volume buttons have broken. I've replaced the batteries many times and neither one works properly. I have no idea what is wrong with them. I'm looking for another remote right now but it will not be an RCA.

Review: I've only had mine a couple of days and can't vouch for durability or battery life, but I'm happy so far. After working with it for about 30 minutes, it was fully functional with my Sharp TV, Yamaha receiver, JVC VCR and Sony DVD player. Sure beats having a remote for every device!

Review: If you have a RCA TV or Satellite then this remote works fine. If you have a Sony or Phillips, etc. buy a remote made by that mfg. I have never got this thing to work with my digital cable box. Keep this in mind when buying A/V equipment. Try to buy all the same brands, they will be most compatible. I dont think any mfg. makes their products 100% compatible with other brands on purpose. ...

Summary: RCU810MSL ... returned it.
Review: One would think that an RCA remote would work with an RCA dish TV controller... wrong! In code set mode, I tried all four codes that were listed, none worked. I tried the auto search feature, it failed as well. The controller box went on and off but thats all, couldn't get the menu or Info buttons to work. In despiration I tried to have it "IR Learn" individual buttons from an existing controller. It reported "Success" every time but none of the buttons worked on the controller box. After wasting 3 days trying, I returned it.

Summary: Dont be fooled. It's not broken.
Review: The complaints of the last two reviews are what I experienced as well. I've had mine for a very long time. The only reason it fails to work for the TV yet for the satellite, is because this thing rapidly soaks up battery power. And everytime you replace the batteries DO NOT forget to reset it to work for the TV again like you did the first time. "Code Search", "TV", your TV code, "TV"...Ta da! It works again. And you can reset it again a few times everytime battery power gets weak until you really have to replace the batteries when reseting fails. It's not a piece of junk! It just eats your batteries hence my 4 stars.

Summary: Bought this to replace the original
Review: The orginal remote that came with my RCA TV went totally dead. We couldn't operate the TV at all. This remote, although not exactly the same, is much the same design. When it arrived I put in two AAA batteries and it worked just like the original. We are very happy with the purchase--in fact, grateful because we can now use our TV.

Review: These RCA Universal Controls are real dogs. If I could have given it less than one star I would. My needs are simple, operate the TV set and operate the RCA satellite receiver. In two years I have had to replace 6 control's. One or more of the pushbuttons just quit working and that's it! Last night we had another go bad, it works the satellite receiver ok but I get no response when I push the TV button. So I use the control that came with the TV to operate it and I use the RCA control to operate the satellite receiver. What junk!! I am searching the internet now for a replacement and you can be sure it won't be RCA.
