Rating: Summary: Creative Inspiration Review: Do you have a friend that manages to have the juiciest stories but needs an hour long introduction before getting to the important details? Well, unlike other Mehndi books, Traditional Mehndi Designs allows for a brief, yet sufficient, introduction of history, recipes, and application of henna and dives directly into 177 pages (out of 208) of various black and white print beautiful Indian Mehndi designs.Though mostly filled with intricate designs for the hands and feet, the elaborateness of the illustrations is hardly intimidating. The pictures are clear and beautiful and all that a person needs to create what he or she sees on the page is not masterful artistry but time and patience. However, maybe the pictures aren't as important to other people. Maybe the long and thorough introduction is favorable for some, but for me, Beukel's book was rife with what I wanted to know: hundreds of designs to make it easy for one to copy and, more importantly, to inspire the artist.

Rating: Summary: Plagiarism Review: I am a professional Mehndi artist and own book this book and books by Navenett Publishing. Most of the designs in this book are taken directly from Navenett books. Right down to the staple marks on some pages. Total pass on this. I suggest the originals! By the way.... The Editorial Review should be checked too. A head to toe paisley will not wash off in the rain. If good henna is used correctly it will last at least two weeks. Even with soap and water.

Rating: Summary: Amazing! Review: I'm a mehndi artist. I've been hunting around for design books that I don't have to pay out-of-country shipping prices on. This book is it. Like Shawn said it is a black and white patter book, but he doesn't mention that it is a great collection of Arabic, tradtional Indian, and Indian wedding designs. It includes finger, hands, feet, and arm designs. It may be a copy of original Indian book designs (many of the designs were familiar to me), but for the money it is worth it. If you are starting and looking for ideas and patterns I would say this is your best bet for the money.
Rating: Summary: If you own other pattern books, pass this one up.... Review: I'm a professional mehndi artist, and I own a good many of these patterns already. The book is just black and white patterns....and very minimal colour photos and such. Many of these patterns were taken from some original Indian books that I already own, by Navneet publishing. I recommend buying the Navneet books over this one. If you are a novice, pass it up too!
Rating: Summary: Finally Something Traditional!! Review: If you are looking for TRADITIONAL mehendi designs then this is the book for you! The perfect book for Pakistani, Indian and Middle Eastern henna designs. Its a great book for beginners as well as professionals. If you or someone you know is going to be a dulhan soon and needs help in getting great mehendi designs then get this book. Just because we dont live back home doesnt mean we cant have our mehendi done professionally. If you are interested in the modern mehendi designs then this book is not for you. Hope you all enjoy this book.
Rating: Summary: not too bad Review: If your looking for design ideas, this book is pretty good. It not only gives you pages of designs for hands/feet but it also gives you samples of portions of designs that you can mix and match. Another plus is that it doesn't go on and on about the history of mehndi like a lot of other books do, it just gives you what you need and nothing more. Some of the designs lack originality but it definitley helps you to stir up your own creativity and come up with design ideas of your own. Overall, a good buy.
