Summary: the best book
Review: 18-year-old Kaitlyn Arquette was murdered in Albuquearue, New Mexico, on Sunday, July 16, 1989. They got her at night. Kait was the daughter of the writer that goes by the name of Lois Duncan. Kait moved out of her parent's house when she was only 17 years of age. She had her own apartment were she lived with her boyfriend, but she had constant fights with him. So thighs weren't going so good and she wanted to leave him, but she still loved him. Things were so bad that she couldn't be in the house with him because they would always argue over dum things. Well know that she lived on her own she would spend more time at her parents house then she did when she was living there. One night she was going to her friend's house for dinner, her friend lived across town. To get to her friend's house she had to drive thru some dangerous street and big roads. Kaityn never made it to her friend's house because she had gotten in a car wreck and had been shot in the head, nobody saw anything or heard a thing, everything was a mistress. This book is about discovering kaitlyns death and the secrets about her that nobody knew not even her parents.
I'm really not a reader, but this book is a page-turner. Once you start reading it you cant put it down. It's such an easy read that you can't fell the pages turning. I really think that this is a good book I recommend this book to everyone. The fact that the book is not that old makes it easy to understand. I mean this is a thru story so everything that is going on is common sense and it's the way you would react if it were to happened to you, so at the sometime you can relate to it. I rate this book the best because for a book to keep me interested all the way you know it must be really good. If you are looking for a non-fiction, easy to read, page-turner and all that good stuff this is the book for you.

Summary: This book is trashy nonsense
Review: First of all, let me start off by saying that I forced myself to finish this book. Lois Duncan is an excellent young adult novelist, but this try at non-fiction was in my opinion horrible. I'll give you a summary of the book first:

The book opens up with the last night that Lois Duncan saw and spoke to her daughter, Kaitlyn Arquette. Kait was planning on going over to her friend Monica's house to hang out and eat dinner, and possibly stay over. Lois had a feeling that something was going to go wrong, and her instincts proved right. While she was driving home, at approximately one o' clock in the morning, a car pulled up to her and the driver shot her in the head two times. Kait was immedietly rushed to the hospital, where her parents were immediately notified. Kait didn't die right away- she was seriously injured, and the doctors said it would take a miracle for her to survive. Sadly, Kait passed away in July 1989. Determined to find out who killed her daughter, (hence the title) Lois Duncan sets out on a search to find Kait's killer. But the search wasn't simple at all- in fact, Lois and her family were even recieving death threats if they continued their search. Her search led her into Kait's shocking secret life and into suspecting people not possible. Lois Duncan's determination to find her daughter made this the high point of this book.

Now let me say why I didn't like the book. First of all, Lois Duncan left the story like that without saying who Kait's killer REALLY was. I think it's kind of pointless to write a book describing your search for your child's killer, and then you leave the story wihtout even saying who did it. Maybe Duncan should have waited to find the killer BEFORE she wrote the story. At press time for the book, she still hadn't found Kait's killer. The second reason that I didn't like this book was because of all of those horrible phsychic readings- there are about twelve really boring long ones in this book. I don't know about you, but I found them to be boring and extremely hard to understand. They were irrevelent to the story and just made it more confusing. They were basically what ruined my enjoyment of this book. Last, I didn't like the story because it rarely had any excitement in it- it just dragged on and on, over 350 pages of nonsense. If you're bored and looking for a book to read to make you even more bored, maybe this book would be a good choice.

Summary: Astounded
Review: I have never read the book, but I was a friend of Kaitlyn's brother at the time she was killed and saw what it did to him. As a matter of fact, I had met her and her Vietnamese boyfriend not long before that unfortunate night. I think it's sad the killer(s) haven't been found, for Lois' peace of mind. I haven't been in contact with Kait's brother for quite a long time, but he and his family were good people and it's about time they found the answers. God bless the Arquettes. I hope the new year will bring an end to their sorrow.

Summary: A Novelist's True Crime Story
Review: I read this book after listening to Lois Duncan speak earlier this month about her continuing search (15 years on) for the persons who murdered her daughter. This a compelling account of mother facing the unthinkable. I am somewhat astonished by the reviewer who critizes the book for not revealing the true killers. Readers hope for a clean ending will be disappointed; those requiring it will miss the point. Lois had always written of law enforcement as heroes, competent and tireless pursuers of justice. In reality, she got resistance, not assistance from the police. Lois loses not only a daughter, but also her trust for our justice system.

There are two reasons the book stands out and is worth reading. First, Lois writes well. Hers is not the only family to become victims of unsolved crimes, but she tells the story we don't often hear -- precisely because it does not have a neat or hopeful ending and reminds us that, in the end, we are all at the mercy of our fellow human beings. The second reason this book is different is because of the use of psychics. I am quite skeptical, generally, and wondered at first whether Lois and the psychics used each other: Lois to feel better; the psychics to self-promote. But the useful information that inexplicably emerges through the psychics is uncanny and too plentiful to be the product of sheer chance or coincidence. It really requires one to consider one's views on the nature of life and death.

If you want a thought provoking looking inside and mother's nightmare, then read this book. If you want a happy ending, then do not.

Summary: ~~A Chill in the Thrill of True Crime Novels~~
Review: I've always been a fan of true crime, but this book included such a personal view that it left a chill in the thrill of reading true crime novels. Never has an autobiographical novel been so honest and forthcoming, so human in its account of a family's tragedy. When you read this Lois Duncan book, you feel like you come to know the writer behind those printed words. You'll find yourself gasping from surprise and twitching in suspense simultaneously with Ms. Duncan. It was a book I couldn't put down until it was read, and then I wanted to pick it up again to reread this unsolved mystery. Underneath the mystery and intrigue, there is a beautiful story of a mother and daughter relationship that truly transcends this earth.

Summary: A compelling and touching true mystery
Review: In this touching and true story, the author tells about her daughter, Kaitlyn Arquette, thought to be an intelligent, bright, and clever person, got herself in trouble by trusting all the wrong people. Both mystery and non-fiction, Who Killed My Daughter? is suspenseful and touching. Lois Duncan explains her quest to solve the mystery of her daughter's murder. It is truely amazing how Duncan combines all the information on her daughter's case in this book. She also tells about her frusteration with the police, and how she must work on the case without their help. Duncan describes the characters so well that I felt like I personally knew them. Her casual and sincere writing style made the easy to read and hard to put to down. Duncan also tells about how her family struggles coping with Kaitlyn's death. The image of Kaitlyn, a beautiful, smart and loved teenager, was shattered when I discovered the shocking information she was hiding. To me, that was the scariest part. The book was mysterious, and left me shocked at the fact that it is a true story. The theme of being careful who you trust was very educational, and taught me to more careful about certain things. I highly recommend this book, especially to mystery-lovers. I, myself, am not a mystery fan, but thoroughly enjoyed it. Who Killed My Daughter? is a great, and very true book that everyone can enjoy.

Summary: A amazing story!!
Review: Lois's story is harrowing to read. Her determination to find who killed her daughter and why, is her reason for writing this book. After her daughter is killed, Lois questions why? She then digs deeper and finds that her daughter was perhaps onto something very dangerous that made somebody think that Kait might go to the authorities. Lois wants you to see if you can answer "Who Killed my Daughter" and help bring justce to her. This is definetly a book you do not want to put down.

Summary: A tragic story of a mother's search for her daughter
Review: The non-fiction novel "Who killed my daughter?" by Lois Duncan is a story based on a mothers search for her daughter's killers in the streets of Albuquerque, New Mexico. In 1989, Kaitlyn Arquette, a 19 year old, was shot while driving to her friends' house in the middle of the night. Police say it was a random shooting but the bullets were shot too well placed into her skull to be "random". Although the police refuse to look deeper into the case, Lois' search persists into the depth of illegal drug-transactions that took place in Kaitlyn's life. As she carries on with the search, she contacts a psychic who has an extraordinary ability to relive Kaitlyn's last moments before her tragic death. Lois also finds that her own daughter may have been a part of the dangerous drug-smuggling activities that went on with the Vietnamese. She has come to believe that the activities are what led to her daughters' death. Dung Nguyen, Kaitlyn's Vietnamese boyfriend, and his "supposed" attempt to commit suicide evidently make him a suspect, but the Albuquerque police continue to refuse to look into the case. Lois and her family have also come to believe that Dung may know who killed her daughter and why she was killed, but he denies having anything to do with her death to the police. In the end, Lois continues to search for her daughter's killers, and only then will peace reside within her family and herself.

Lois Duncan's tragic novel was an edge of the seat read. I enjoyed every page turning event within the book. I would recommend this book to all readers out there because it is one of the many that has touched my heart. When I read this book, I actually felt as though I was a character, too, pursuing drug dealers. I also recommend this book because its somewhat action packed, and it creates suspense. The book, "Who killed my daughter?" is one I would most recommend to anyone who loves to read mysteries. Although it is nonfiction, it is an unbelievable book that pulls readers into the story as though they were witnessing every moment. It is a one-of-a-kind read that keeps the reader reading until the end.
