Review: This book confirmed my suspicions. I was daignosed in April 2003 with Multiple Myeloma (an immune system cancer of the plasma cells) while being Active Duty military. The military denied any relation of the Vaccine to the disease. I also developed other illnesses right after the shots. I received 5 of a 6 shot series. I also have 7 vertebrae that have cement in them so I can walk - a direct cause of the cancer. You can take this book SERIOUSLY because almost 1/5 of the book is devoted to DOCUMENTATION, much obtained from the US Government only available to the Freedom of Information Act. It is a truy impressive, in fact the most impressive and documented book I have ever read. Bob Woodward could learn from Gary Matsumoto.
I even sent Pam Asa, the heroine of the true story, an e-mail and she did respond. If you or one of your loved ones received the Anthrax shots buy this book, read it, and pass it on to others. The book is well written, puts real science into everyday English, and is interesting. There is no reason not to buy it and read it. Buying this book will actually encourage other journalists to investigate real issues and publish the work.

Review: ANTHRAX VACCINE - Had additive agent that may be injurious to the health of
those service people inoculated.

Several days ago I posted and linked to a book review on our site,
"Vaccine-A." We've since transferred this piece from the HSPIG Forum Site,

HSPIG has a keen interest in things related to bioterrorism and bio-chem
weapons both in their use and our response and counter-measures.

The book, Vaccine-A, has far reaching ramifications from the manufacture of
such weapons to mounting creditable defenses against their use.

This is something to watch. This story is continuing to evolve.

This is still under the radar of the MSM. The MSM is probably wary of
Uncle Sam I suppose. The MSM has been burned badly lately on not
objectively reporting the news. One can argue almost that they have markedly
been rooting for the enemy.

Mr. Matsumato doesn't appear to be an alarmist and has considerable
credentials with a strong research/investigative background. Mr. Matsumoto
is a well respected and experienced investigative journalist both in print
and the TV media. Mr. Matsumoto was the Chief Investigative Correspondent
for the FOX News Channel and a foreign and national correspondent for the

This story has the potential to dwarf the Rathergate scandal and could even
rival Watergate. This Country is at war and those who would allow this to
happen to our brave men and women need to be held accountable for their
actions.

Since the original post Tom Barnes, Co-Founder of HSPIG and Persian Gulf War
vet - military intel, has talked many times with the author, Mr. Matsumoto.

Mr. Matsumto has agreed to come on the Board of HSPIG. Mr. Matsumoto is
staking his professional reputation on his book. As he says,"I took a page
from my old employer's play book at Fox News Channel - 'We Report. You
Decide.' I reported; now you decide." Mr. Matsumoto backs up his book with
exhaustive research he has done over the last several years.

Mr. Matsumoto has answered several comments from concerned vets in posts
subsequent to the initial article.

In a response on the HSPIG blog, Mr. Matsumoto says:

The trail of evidence is too complicated for TV, and almost too complicated
for newspapers; hence the book. The DOD/FDA stonewalling on this issue -

House Government Reform Committee - has been so formidable that I felt it
necessary to write a book to lay it all out. Even pressure from Congress
couldn't pry loose the facts that you've read in VACCINE A.

What I reported in VACCINE A, you won't hear from the Department of Defense
or the FDA. I think officials from DOD/FDA/NIH - the three federal agencies
working in concert to "fast track" the second generation anthrax vaccine
with squalene - will continue to stonewall, obfuscate and lie about squalene
and its injurious effects until they are forced to testify about it under
oath. With the help of veterans like yourself - the people who arguably need
the most protection from unethical human experimentation - that could
happen.

Summary: A must read!
Review: I just got my copy today, having placed my order before it published. I'm not even finished reading it yet, but I wanted to give my full encouragement to anyone considering this book.
If you know anyone serving or who has served in the military, or if you have children who, like most, are given immunization shots, you must read this book. Then, you will want to contact your elected representatives and demand an official investigation of this coverup. You really owe it to yourself and to your children.

Summary: Military members must read
Review: I'm in the military. I have had medical problems for years. Army doctors could not explain my problems, and told me that my problems (an unexplained auto-immune disorder) were the result of "old age" (I was 38 when the problems started occurring). As a result of this book, I learned that I was given an anthrax vaccination from one of the "squalene" contaminated lots (the author lists the specific lot numbers of the squalene-anthrax vaccines given to troops on an experimental basis). I was extremely healthy and had never had any medical problems when I got my anthrax shots. Now I will have medical problems for the rest of my life. This book explains how military members get subjected to experimental drugs that are often more of a threat to them than the enemy's biological weapons. Everyone in the military should read this book--there are a million lessons here about blindly following orders, "national security" excuses for inexcusable behavior, and how the senior leaders do not always act for the purest of reasons. I hope that DOD launches an immediate investigation into Dr. Carl Alving's activities. Someone should have to answer for this.

Summary: Will A Vaccine Kill You?
Review: This book is frightening if true. The premise, set forth in the introduction and detailed in the book, is that the US government has used experimental vaccines from the Desert Shield / Storm era through today on GI's and other individuals. Author Gary Matsumoto methodically - sometimes excruciatingly so - grinds through facts and builds a circumstantial case supported by nearly 60 pages of endnotes.

Matsumoto was the first writer to publish a connection between the anthrax vaccine and the Gulf War Syndrome, doing so in an article published in Vanity Fair in 1999. His book, Vaccine A, is the spawn of that article.

Matsumoto does not have an evident bias of distrust in the US government or even the military. He acknowledges the need to develop and use a vaccine effective against anthrax. He is even willing to understand the failure to obtain knowing consent from those injected with an unlicensed vaccine due to the exigent nature of the Gulf conflict and the fear of biological agents in the possession of Saddam Hussein - at least initially.

As his investigation progresses, Matsumoto learns that one of the ingredients of Vaccine A (anthrax vaccine) is squalene. This oily substance is an adjuvant that stimulates the immune system. Unfortunately, this oil too closely resembles oils found in the body and as a result, the body's immune system begins to attack itself. This causes a plethora of autoimmune diseases.

Disturbingly, it appears that a wealth of scientific knowledge about the dangers of squalene was available to a thorough researcher prior to the Gulf War. Even more disturbing is the unwillingness of the US military to acknowledge more than ten years later the fact that squalene in Vaccine A caused a large number of "casualties".

Matsumoto asserts that the US has stockpiled 75,000,000 doses of Vaccine A with squalene for future use by the military and civilians. He further assets that the several other vaccines have been or are in the process of being developed with the adjuvant of squalene.

At times, this book is like reading a textbook - it is grueling. However, the acquired knowledge is worth the effort. This book should be read (or at least the introduction) by anybody who has family or friends in the military or is contemplating a career in the military. Apparently, enemy fire and friendly fire are not the only risks of military service.

In the "how I would improve this book" category I suggest photographs of key individuals mentioned in the book. Also, it would be helpful include a complete copy of the insert that accompanies the current anthrax vaccine.

A tough book to read - but five stars all the same.

Summary: The Truth is Clear
Review: Vaccine-A is a carefully detailed account of the use of soldiers as lab rats for a new 'secret ingredient' designed to push the immune system into rapid response. The problem is, the secret ingredient causes the immune system to attack the whole body. The results range from arthritis to death. The book has the depth and consistency of truth. It is a sad, disillusioning, infuriating story.

Worse yet, the author demonstrates that there are financial links between military experimenters and pharmaceutical companies. The author doesn't stress it, but it seems to me that the next group of vaccines to be infested with this toxin may be childhood vaccines.

This book requires that you think when you read it. If you or a loved one are experiencing immune system problems and you had an anthrax shot in the military, take the time to read it and make up your own mind. I was very skeptical initially, but the author has written a master work. It's clear he cares for the soldiers, very much.

A great read of an evolving tragedy.
