This is more sensationalist crap for the narrow-minded who think that America is unique in the exercising of power.

Why does it surprise people that France, a rather large, advanced, nuclear country, would try to act for its own benefit? People want to say they 'betrayed' us, reducing internaitonal relations to a schoolyard game of manhunt or something.

Countries act in their own interests. That's what happens. They don't act alone to uphold moral values, whatever that means. If you told an Iraqi peasant that his American 'liberators' were selling arms to Iran in the 80s and funding terrorists in other corners of the world, he might have some doubts. But if you tell an American that the French are conspiring against them, they're ready to shoot anyone driving a Peugot, after they change their 'French' fries to 'Freedom' fries.

Review: My title says it all. It's not worth my time to write a long review, and it's not worth your time to read.

Review: This book has raised an awareness, at least within myself. Why are fighting the war in Iraq? We are fighting the enemies that have supplied the terrorists with, not WMD, but millions of tons of small arms that are killing our troops. Who are we really fighting? China, Russia, France, Germany and of course, the enemy that is selling is out from within. Like other reviewers have said, we need to wake up!!! Gertz tells us who are enemies are and we need to quit feeding their bad habits. I don't know how this will take place but we feed one of them by visiting those dollar stores. This is one read that will shock you and show you who the real terrorists are.

Summary: One of Those Righteous America Against Evil Countries!
Review: This book while countained a lot of facts is not a good one. It basically says how evil France, Germany, China, and Russia are plotting against the righteous and all knowing USA. Wow! What a shock? How can any country acts in his own interest and not supporting American policies? I got a suprise for you. That's what nations do - acting to protect their own interest. Does the USA give a rat about French, German, Chinese, or Russian interest? No, it doesn't. The World's sole superpower cares about domination and spreading its influence, whether it's politically, economically, or militarily. The USA acts unilaterally, and that's fine since it has the power to do so, but it also demands that eveyone else support its actions. However, why should anyone else follow? These countries have their own interest and like the USA they are just acting to protect them. Just because you have one enemy doesn't it has to become everyone else's enemy. Just because somethiong is in your best interest doesn't make it in everbody's interest. As far as morality is concerned, it has no place in politics. Nations don't act on moral principals, they act in their best interest. When it comes to foreign policy, the USA isn't any better or worse than any of these countries. To me, they're all the same, powerful nations acting to protect their own interests no matter what the cost may be for the rest of the world.

Review: This is a very well written and researched book. It is no secret that there are people who are trying to obtain and use nuclear devices and other weapons of mass destruction against us. Mr. Gertz also shows how many of our so-called "allies" will sell everything and anything to anybody and everybody just to make a buck. He even points out that some of our own people will do the same. The proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and critical technology is alarming. It is time for Democrats to wake up as well as Republicans. It is imperative that all of us realize that this is not a game. Our national security, intelligence, military and technology must remain the best. The flow of secrets and information out of our country must be stopped. And the flow of illegal immigrants and other undesireables through our under protected boarders must end. Germany, France, China, Russia and others better figure it out too. Or life as you know it will suddenly become horribly changed. By then it will be too late.

Review: Treachery is about the actions of other nations detrimental to the United States. This includes both friends and enemies of our country. It concerns the spread of both advanced conventional weapons technology and weapons of mass destruction (WMD) technology as well as weapon hardware. In Iraq America faced many weapons supplied to Iraq by these nations.

The author details the activities of such nations as China, Pakistan, Libya, Russia and North Korea as well as the United Nations. Though some governments have obviously supported the selling of weapons to terrorist supporting nations, it is clear that much of the basis for this action has been the worldwide recognized trait called greed. Many a company's concern for profits overrides any hesitancy to sell to so called "rogue" nations. The author also points out the possibility that Iraq's WMDs were hidden in Syria prior to the 2003 invasion of Iraq

This book clearly brings attention to the dangers resulting from the proliferation of WMDS caused by various countries. My impression was that China has been the greatest problem. Of course the U.S. is not guiltless in this proliferation when we consider the technology secrets which China has obtained from our country in the past. The Proliferation Security Initiative of the Bush Administration is shown as the best hope of stopping the further spread of WMD capability throughout the world.

I found the book to be interesting and well researched.

Review: When are we going to take a good look at ourselves? If you believe that Reagan's weapons give-away was an isolated incident think again! Just like a shoplifter - for every 1 that is caught there are 100s more that aren't. We not only have a history of giving away weapons we also have a history of training those who would do us harm - Osama Bin Laden was one of our prized students!!
We are in every way more destructive to ourselves than our greatest enemies could ever be.
