Summary: We Are Not A Disease
Review: Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom is a thorough, informative, creatively written guide for health for any woman. It presents the unfortunately revolutionary notion that menopause in a healthy and natural milestone in our lives rather than the abnormality that it has been labeled by MALE physicians. Dr. Northrup helps us to value our bodies and our selves as worthy human beings without labeling us as various "women's" disorders. I vehemently reccommend this book to all women from 1 to 100. Thank you, Dr. Northrup.

Summary: What an inspiration!
Review: Dr. Northrup is a wise and compassionate master of the healing arts, simply put. She's a wonderful role-model for me, professionally, since we share the same career field. But more importantly, her books and tapes, her words, her "knowing" has inspired me to further my own studies beyond that of conventional medicine, to seek to be a true "healer" as well.

Every woman should read this book, not only for the practical and sound medical advice it provides, but for the truth that resonates throughout it's pages. Our Bodies ARE our Wisdom and Dr. Northrup articulates this eloquently and humbly. Highly recommended.

Summary: I wish Dr. Northrup lived in LA
Review: Wow--after buying the book over two years ago, letting my husband read it first, and then finally reading it myself this summer, all I can say is WOW. I wish I had read it sooner before paying too much money and putting myself through too much stress (including an ultrasound) over a pain in my abdomen last year.

This book empowers women to finally take control of their own health and care. We have been in the dark for too long, giving in to the authority of our doctors.

I like Dr. Northrup's emphasis on prevention, rather than cure. If we live a healthy lifestyle, all the drugs and surgeries that "cure" us will be unnecessary!

I recommend this book to any woman and men who care about the women in their lives.

Summary: The most helpful book I've ever read.
Review: Yes you should buy and read this book At my age in life I don't buy many self help books. But this book has been such an inspiration to me. I bought two more copies for both of my daughters who have children in college. They told me it was the best gift I had ever given them. It is my source book for ideas and inspiration. My daughter's, and now my husband use Neurosync behavior modification software recommended by Ms. Northup to set and achieve goals and say they have felt this book empowers them to positive thinking about life and to never stop trying to improve and change for the positive.

Summary: A true guide for taking charge of your own health.
Review: This book changed my life! Northrup gives facts, stats, and examples to help anyone see how she can influence her own health and effect her own healing. An engaging style, real life stories, and a well organized layout make this a must read for any woman. She shows how beliefs and emotions effect physical health and how to begin healing. This book isn't just for someone with a specific health issue, but for any woman who wants to live more fully, more alive, and learn to understand and respect the inherent wisdom in her body.

Summary: An eye opener for any female looking to "feel" who she is.
Review: I can't say enought about this book. Medical information and advice I can get just about anywhere. Can I trust it? I don't think they (the medical profession) has enought information to impart to do my body and mind justice or in fact help. This book has done more for ME as a woman than all the doctors and professionals has. Compassionate, eye opening, informative and easy reading. People can tell you that you are worthy, but you have to do the work and look into your own soul for answers that you need. I MATTER is more than just letters. This book tells you how to find the answers if you're will to look and accept. A wonderful writer that gets to the subject matter and tells it like it is. I like that. I recommend this book to every woman I talk to and care about. This path we all walk is a wonder to behold and a balm for the soul. I hope she writes another book as good as this one.

Summary: Packed with information... a bit much in the self-help area
Review: If you can get past the idea that your ills can be cured if you "fix your emotional turmoil" this is a pretty good book. It's just that you had better be ready to dismantle and rebuild if you are going to take all of this "self-awareness" to heart. I found myself getting depressed... so I quit reading the book. But, I do keep it handy for reference.

Summary: Very enlightening.
Review: A good eye opener to many issues. I have been following nutritional and alternative techniques outlined in The Secrets of Staying Young book, especially an herb that keeps Russians alive to 120. Coupled with information presented in your title, I expect to be healthy until that age and maybe beyond.

Summary: Every woman should have this book
Review: This is an excellent guide to most everything women ever wanted to know about themselves, concerning their bodies and their emotional health. Sure, the author puts her own perspective and ideas into this and that chapter, but she has point. Another book that I highly recommend for us women's emotional health and stability, and which has helped me tremendously, is Dietmar Scherf's "I Love Me: Avoiding and Overcoming Depression" also available at Amazon.

Summary: Fellow physician/brain-author endorses this...
Review: In writing "The Care and Feeding of Your Brain" I discussed the subject of psychological changes of PMS, menopause, and other women's body/mind issues with many of my patients who are women. One of them recently suggested this book which is right on with respect to some of the treatments mentioned for the psychological issues that come about as a product of bodily chemical changes unique to women. Dr. Northrup writes in an informative and non-misogynistic style. It is clear that she cares and that she is well informed about women's health issues. May I suggest "The Care and Feeding of Your Brain" as a short companion guide to helping address psychological issues of a bodily origin such as premenstrual mood changes, menopausal memory loss, and post-partum blues...all the best to Dr. Northrup for an excellent women's book. I also recommend it to partners to help understand the issues women face with a uniquely different physiology. Kenneth Giuffre MD, author "The Care and Feeding of Your Brain"
