Summary: Should Fly Out of Bookstores!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Fly with us..........
Review: Found the book always went back to the few female pilots that flew.

I really wanted to have a book dedicated to the airline hostess, not an un- related subject.

The photos are wonderful.

Being in this business for many years it did bring many good memories though I would not have purchased it had I known the above.

Summary: Quality book! ...
Review: I bought this book as a Mother's Day gift for my mother who was a flight attendent in the 1950's.She was absolutely astounded with it as it has top quality pictures and the lay-out of the book is just top shelf.

Lot's of enjoyment with this book for our whole family!...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The Sexiest History book ever
Review: I liked the way that the Flight attendents used
to dress in the above book with Skirts & Nylon Stockings with
their VERY Attracive legs showing.

It is a drag in most if not all Airlines
today most of thier Female Flight attendents wore Pants & Slacks.

So you can not see their Atractive legs like you used to as depicited in this book.

Also If I ran my own Airline I would have ALL my female
flight Attendents dress in Skirts & nylon stockings the way they
used to in this book.

Summary: If You've Got It--Flaunt It! This book does.
Review: The authors of this book have done a wonderful service to the aviation industry. As a former flight attendant for Braniff, I have to say this book captures the aviation heartbeat of each of the five decades of flying I have had the pleasure of experiencing. The authors' words have so crisply and concisely described every aspect of the evolution of the flight attendant's job, attitude, and environment--plus, the selection of pictures is fantastic. Each time you pick up the book you will find something new to appreciate and enjoy.

Summary: Fun and Fresh and VERY Informative
Review: The past couple of years have really done a lot for those who are interested in aviation history, particularly commercial flight. Vanity Fair magazine published two articles, one of which was excerpted from Mary Wells' "A Big Life In Advertising," which details how she helped transform stodgy Braniff Airlines into a delight of color and design, with stewardesses dressed by Pucci. These articles obviously whetted the interest of many, which is why "Come Fly With Us: A Global History of the Airline Hostess" is so timely. Forget "Coffee, Tea or Me" -- this is the true story of airline hostesses, chock-full of amazing historical photos garnered from the vaults of airlines such as Quantas, Pan Am, TAP and TWA, to name a few (and aren't a couple of those out of business?). The text provides interesting historical facts (airline hostesses did far more than serve coffee and pass out blankets; at one point, they were registered nurses!) and is a great read, whether you're a frequent flier or a "trains-only, please" traveler. In fact, I plan on bringing it on my next flight in hopes of being upgraded, as I'm sure any current airline hostess or host familiar with this book will be pleased to cater to me even more!

Summary: Flying fashions
Review: This is a fascinating history of fashion in the air. I never thought about the clothes (or lack of) of the hostess. This is a must have for anyone who has ever flown.

Summary: Will love this if interested in the history of the airlines
Review: This very nice coffee table book is wonderful and is a MUST HAVE for anyone who has been in the airline industry for any period of time or for those just interested in the history of the airlines. The pictures and the old ads, particularly the really vintage ones, are so interesting and will be reminders to many of what is unfortunately a bygone era of luxury airline travel. Interesting notes, such as the Continental Hostess Manual's in-flight wartime regulations, imposed by the Government after Pearl Harbor, are somewhat eerily prophetic to the security regulations Flight Attendants of today must follow. I have bought this book for a number of friends and highly recommend it. One sour note, is the fact that in a few pictures the authors have chosen to use some current-day very sexy models in some posed, low-cut, not actual fashions/uniforms for whatever reason??
