Rating: Summary: The Cronicles of Narnia Review: The Cronicles of Narnia are some of the best books that I have ever read, but they are much better if read in the original order. That is LWW, PC, VDT, SC, HHB, MN, and LB. I believe it robs the series of about 50% of it's magic to read it in the new order(starting with MN). If you are a first time Narnia reader please consider reading in the original order.
Rating: Summary: A Moving, Fantastic Epic Review: It is, sadly, a rare thing today to find a writer whose art enables the construction of stories as complete as Lewis' Narnia Chronicles. These books, first read at the age of 8 or thereabouts and reread since, played a powerful role in shaping my young imagination, my emotions and my view of life. This is, to date, the only work of literature to make me cry. Perhaps one may think I'm being preposterous, but I say these things without fear of exaggeration or untruth. In short, the Narnia Chronicles possess the unique quality of Necessity. They Need to be read. Reading them will instill the Need to love them and the Need to share this love with others. To all who have not yot embarked upon this particular journey, begin as soon as you are able. Forget your age, be as a young child and allow free reign to your imagination. Lose yourself in the Land of Narnia and return a changed being.
Rating: Summary: The evils of audacious publishers Review: Why did the publishers alter the original order of the books? C.S. Lewis intended that the books follow a certain order to give readers the sense of surprise and self discovery which the chronological order destroys. In the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe the narrator mentions that the reader doesn't know who Aslan is yet but by reordering the books this comment no longer makes sense and the mystery behind who Aslan really is is lost. What a shame. I sure am glad I have an old set that the publishers did not have the audacity to alter.
Rating: Summary: THE BEST BOOKS EVER I HAVE ONLY READ 3 GOING ON 4 Review: THESE ARE THE BEST BOOKS IF YOU LIKE MAGIC AND WAR I RECOMMEND IT FOR ANYONE I LOVE IT IT IS MY FAVORITE BOOK
Rating: Summary: fascinating characters, fascinating scenes, fascinating...! Review: Last year, in fourth grade, I read the whole series, twice! I especially liked Prince Caspian and Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The characters travel to Narnia in the most interesting ways, like falling through pictures and going through the wardrobe. The only thing I didn't like was that there were only seven books!
Rating: Summary: Best books I've read!!!!!!!!!!! Review: The Chronicals of Narnia are the best books I ever read!! C.S. Lewis is a great author and even though these are his only books for children the are his best books! my favorites are The voyage of the Dawn Treader, and the Last
Battle. The Last Battle contains alot of symbolism and really makes for a good ending
of the series. It's hard to tell about the story without giving the ending, but anyway, these are great gifts for your grandchildren, children, or even your self!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: I wish I could read them again for the first time. Review: Have you ever read books that you wish you could read again for the first time? The Chronicles of Narnia are like that for me. I first read them when I was 11 or so. I'm now in my thirties and still go back to them to read and think about. They are beautifully told stories; all offer valuable lessons. My favorites have to be The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, and the Horse and His Boy. I just sent a beautiful edition of the first to my nephew in the hopes that he will enjoy them as much as I have. If you've never read any of these books get ready for a wonderful ride.
Rating: Summary: A book for all tastes and ages Review: Sometimes this book classified as children's book. But this is not quite correct. This is one of those precious masterpieces that appeal to people of all tastes and ages. I really liked it a lot. Why? This is a perfect fairy tale, the kind loved by kids, with good and bad characters and inevitable happy end. If you ever were fascinated with magic of fairy tales in your childhood, you will find this magic alive once more on the pages of the Chronicles of Narnia. But the book is not so simple. It characters are complex and cannot always be interpreted as absolutely positive or negative. They go through the wonderful adventures, each books developing and strengthening the thoughs of the previous one, you better understand the general idea that love and goodness is around you, you just have to look for them and believe in them. And if you remember this, it cal add some happiness to your daily life.
Rating: Summary: Yes, yes, yes!!!! Review: I first learned of the Narnia chronicles in fifth grade, and now that I'm a college sophomore, they're still the most read books in my (large) collection. I might be in the minority in favoring The Horse and His Boy over the others (with The Silver Chair a close second). Ignore the bad-mouthers who say this series is overrated - it's amazing.
Rating: Summary: The Best Books in the World!! Review: The Narnia series is probably the best series, and the first whole series of books I have read! I started off reading the first one in school, as it was compulsery! Then when I had started that one, I was on a magical adventure! I was up until 2, even 3 in the morning, trying to get to the end of that one, dying to read the next one!! When I had finished all of them, the dissapointment!! If the publisher reads this, Please, PLEASE, PLEASE write some more!!
