Summary: A must have collection
Review: I also agree that these books should be read the way they were written. I think anyone who doesn't read them in this order may cheat theirself out of the wonder involved in these books. However I think anbody can enjoy these books in any order. Their great stories that I plan on reading again soon.

Summary: Excellent series. Grossly out of order.
Review: In case you didn't already know, the correct order for the series is thus: LWW, PC, VDT, SC, HB, MN, TLB. This is the order they were written and published, but most importantly, the order in which they were intended to be read. I love the series, but i'm giving this edition 1 star, because of the idiocy committed by the publishers who decided "hey, chronological makes more sense!" (However, instead of making more sense, the effect of this was more like a publisher taking a book full of flash-backs, and chopping it up and re-arranging it to flow linearly.)

Some people have said that this is how CS Lewis intended the books to ultimately be read (though I have yet to see some kind of quote or official word from him on the matter). However, if you have read the whole series, you could tell that if they were read in the new suggested order, meaning would be lost in the later books, and the earlier ones would be really confusing. Let me repeat, that CS only contemplated re-arranging them, but that it would only work after massive editing to make the series flow. What will the publishers do next, hire an editor to do this in Lewis' absence?

I beg of anyone who hasn't read the series - try to find an older set which is still in the correct order (pre 1993 maybe?), and barring that, at least read it for the first time in this order, or you may like the experience significantly less than you would otherwise.

Summary: A wonderful set of kids book, but not in this order!
Review: I read the Chronicles of Narnia about 13 years ago in the original sequence they were published, and found it perfect. I don't understand the current trend of placing the books in chronological order. C.S Lewis wrote the Magician's Nephew as the 6th book showing us a flashback into how Narnia was created and that's where it belongs, not as the first book. I have heard the rumor that C.S Lewis did want them in the current order, but only after extensive revision. Since he never got to them, the books definitely belong in the original order. To the Publishers, at least have two editions of the box set for those who believe the order you have chosen is pure sacrilege on an amazing set of stories!!!

Summary: Splendid Books, but BAD order
Review: I've been reading the Chronicles of Narnia for a long time. They are written perfectly by the Author C.S.Lewis, and they show allegorical signifigence! The only reason that I have only rated this set with four stars, is because of the order! The Harper Collins Publishers have meddled with the chronicles, and taken the books out of the original written order, without C.S.Lewis' permission. Lewis is sadly deceased, so therefore, the publisher has NO right in changing the order! The story of Narnia is great, but the order this set is in is WRONG! I suggest all those who read these books to read them in the original published order, not the new meddled order! Otherwise, The chronicles are a great series to read!

Summary: Fantastic
Review: I was first introduced to the chronicles of Narnia when I was 9. I found it was a extrodinary series and soon developed a hunger for fantasy books. A year later our teacher in grade 4 read to us the hobbit by J.R.R.Tolkien. I soon checked the public library for other books by him and i soon devoured the books by J.R.R.Tolkien. After I was quickly introduced to DragonLance by M. Weis and Tracy Hickman. Now at 12 I've started on the death gate series. All in all C.S.Lewis started my love for fantasy.

Summary: An excellent series for all.
Review: The Chronicles of Narnia are classics of the highest kind. Not only do they have a message which we need to hear, but they are also really good stories. Who cannot enjoy them? And the Christianity that is so blatantly obvious in them is so refreshing in these times when God is ignored. These are good for anyone, child or adult.

Summary: Best Christian or Fantasy series EVER!!!
Review: The Narnia series is indeed wonderful. It is richly full of biblical references. The characters are well developed. It is a very different expeirence to read them in chronological order istead of the order they were written in. As the story progresses you can see the changes in the personality of each character {Eustace for example}. The way that each person or animal acts in the books is very intresting. They also all have their faults which are easy to see, but the are still good leaders. This fact makes them seem more real. Having Susan fall from the faith is demonstrating the fact that the Church of England believes you can lose your salvation to Christ. My personal favorites are all of them.

Summary: Some of my favorite readings from college
Review: I first read the Chronicles of Narnia as a student in college(not as an assignment). The wonder and simplicity of the children's story easily drew me into Narnia. It's amazing that Lewis could express truths so clearly that they are both obvious to children and profound to adults. I have re-read them since college and hope to do so again soon. I would highly encourage any parent or teacher to read the stories with their children. It's the best of children's literature (which makes it great reading for adults as well).

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A spectacular literary triumph in every sense of the word!
Review: C.S. Lewis has created an incredible panoramic fantasy world. Besides the dynamic and vivid imagery of Christ, the story is itself thrilling and fast paced. Narnia has it all: wars, treachery, magic rings, enchanted lands, spells and demons.... The only reservation I have is reading the series in a set order. Although editors suggest reading the books in chronological order based on the story sequence, I feel that the full effect and mystery may be lacking a bit unless you read them in the order that Lewis wrote them.
