Rating: Summary: Great for adults or children Review: I first read these books as a box set when I was in grade 2 or 3. The Narnia series became my favourite series then and still are among my favourite books of all time. I can't believe J.R.R. Tolkien told his friend C.S. Lewis not to publish these masterpieces. I'm glad Lewis didn't take the advice to heart. I reccomend these books to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Timeless Review: The chronicles of Narnia are a timeless piece of literature. They are the one set of books which I continue to read time and again, each time finding something new and inspiring in them. As one experiences more of life one understands the books differently. I was once asked in school what I would take with me to a desert island - I chose the chronicles of Narnia because I knew that no matter how many times I read them, I would continue to be entertained and inspired! They are truly magical - uplifting for the mind and the soul!
Rating: Summary: Disappointed with the abridgement Review: I loved reading the series, so I borrowed this tape set to listen to with my kids. The narration is great, but I was disappointed that the books were abridged. I found the audio versions not as meaningful with the changes.
Rating: Summary: Every library deserves these books! Review: The Chronicles of Narnia are, without a doubt, the best books I have ever read. They have been good friends since the fourth grade, friends whom I return to repeatedly. Rich characters, wonderful fantasy and profound messages enable the books to grow with you. Every library deserves these treasures, and every child and adult should get to know Aslan and friends.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: If you've not read 'em, read 'em. If you have read 'em, read 'em again. Probably the best children's books out there, and that's saying a lot. "The Chronicles of Narnia" are exciting, entertaining, great fun, and have enough suspense to be engaging the whole way through. Don't worry too badly about the book order; Either way, it'll make sense when you're done. My father read these to me when I was little, and I plan to do the same for my kids someday."The Chronicles of Narnia" are classics for a very good reason.
Rating: Summary: A Classical Flight of Fancy Review: I also read this series as a child and it sparked my imagination. Lewis does a masterful job of drawing you in to his world and leaves a lasting impression in your mind. I read them nearly 20 years ago, and I can still recall the title of all seven books, and the plots of every adventure. Simply wonderful! Now I want to read them all over again....
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: After reading this whole series, I can strongly recommed these books to anyone. There is a commom misconception of the Narnian Series that it is highly religious, this is true, but can also be thouroghly enjoyed by non-christians. I was entraced by this set, and I am sure that you will be too. My personal favorites were The Silver Chair, Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and, of course, The Lion, the Witch, and the Warbrobe. I can say with confidence that this is a great series for all ages and interests.
Rating: Summary: Battles Galore! Review: I think that these books are inspiring at times, but sorroful at others. It is an exellent set of books,I say every kid should get a set!Plus I`ll give you a hint: these books are in number order, If you read them in order they make a whole lot more sense.
Rating: Summary: An absolute must for parents Review: I read this book as a kid. I loved it. The images that C.S. Lewis paints with his words are spectacular. The scenes breath taking. I know that in the age of Video kids would rather watch it on TV then read, but you simply have to read it first or you will ruin it. If you have school age kids this is a must. If you have preschoolers get it and read it to them.
Rating: Summary: A Must for any Parent to read to their children Review: WOW! A timeless classic, I loved them as a kid, now I love them even more when I get to share them with my kids.
