Summary: Great books, magic and fantasy in every page
Review: These are some of the greatest books I have ever read, they are not only for children but for adults as well. When I read them as a girl, I trembled with fear every time Aslan had to face the White Witch, and I still have to find a braver hero and a more evil villain than them.

Summary: The Chronicles of Narnia
Review: This is my first foray into the world of 'review' but I must have my say. All of the positive remarks about these wonderful stories are inspiring. I envy all of you who read them as children. I was in my early 30's sitting by the shore with my then 9 year old son( prior reviewer Peter O'Malley) when I first read C.S.Lewis. I have always cherished this time spent with my son and credit this series of books for fostering in him a voracious need to read and in myself the desire to look at life through a veil of child-like fantasy. Who needs to grow up!

Summary: Amazing
Review: These books are an amazing example of what children's literature should be like. From a purely literary view they are masterfully crafted with great characters and plots. But they also delve deeper. There is a hidden plot line that is so intricitly woven into the stroies that only the most perceptive reader will find it. I love these books and will tresure them forever.

Summary: The Original Order Is VITAL Upon The First Reading
Review: THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA were the most wonderful and important books I read as a child. I am still upset by this set HarperCollins has published in the last few years that has re-ordered the seven volumes chronologically based on the historical line in the novels. This is apparently according to Lewis's wishes, if so, Lewis was wrong! The best part of the series was reading "The Magician's Nephew" sixth and discovering with a beautiful and never-replicated surprise about all the things that happened before "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe." (See several reviews below that already say this better.) By all means buy these books for your children, godchildren, nieces and nephews, but PLEASE, specify that the FIRST time they read them that they read them in the original order: LWW, PC, VDT, SC, HHB, MN, LB. They will reread them for the rest of their lives, in every possible order, but something great and beautiful and unsurpassed will be stolen from them if they read The Magician's Nephew first.

Summary: More illustrations than the previous edition.
Review: I also like the new cover art, although the series MUST be read in the original order.

The deluxe hardcover set are very high quality, and each book has a different color binding should the dust jackets be lost. The spine of each is embossed with the title of the book in gold lettering.

Do what I did: buy the paperback set for the children, and keep these beautiful hardcovers for yourself!

Summary: The Best of The Best!
Review: These books were the best books I ever read! If you like far-away lands and witches and goblins ect. I guarantee you will like this book!

Summary: Naria
Review: This book is very make-belive. If you are into epic stories, and make-belive, where animals talk and witches and goblins are present you will like this book. You will not be able to guess what is going to happen next.

Summary: Has anything better ever been written for kids?
Review: Peter, Susan, Edmund, Lucy, Reepicheep, Puddleglum, Tumnus the Faun, and great lion, Aslan (he's not a tame lion, you know...). C.S Lewis blessed the world with these books, written for his grandchildren, and in the process, created an alternate reality which fully engages the imagination. I read and recounted The Chronicles of Narnia, both to my own kids and to a wider audience on the radio over a number of years. It's the most magical liternature for kids I have ever encountered, but wonderful for all ages, as well. If you are one of those who knows the books only by reputation, but have never invested the time to experience them firsthand, I would challenge you to dive right in...the water is VERY fine...!

Summary: A perfect Christmas gift.
Review: I just saw this book in a toy store the other day and couldn't help picking it up and browsing thru it. I have always loved the Chronicles since I received a boxed set at age 8 from a favorite aunt. Like other reviewers, I feel that the books are meant to be read in the order they were published, not chronologically. But the illustrations in this edition more than make up for that - especially the maps! And I must add here that Amazon's price is a BARGAIN at $35.00. This is a beautifully, colorfully illustrated book of stories that belong in all children's libraries.

Summary: Books for Life
Review: These books were fun fantasy when I first read them in elementary school, and over the years as I have read and reread them until they've fallen apart, I've realized they can be taken on so many more levels. They are uplifting and inspirational, and every child who loves to read needs this collection.
