Rating: Summary: Essential, period. Review: I would not read if these stories didn't exist, I would not write if these stories didn't exist, I would not appreciate literature the way that I do if these stories didn't exist. These seven adventures, written by a master of tales, inspired every imaginative process in my brain and brought out every emotion in my being. The Chronicles of Narnia present a seemingly never-ending epic of immense proportions that bring forth various situations from victory to catastrophe, mystery to explaination, and life to death. We follow the wondrous journeys of four young children through the enchanting land of Narnia, a land you will never forget. Various supporting characters grace the pages, from Father Time, to Aslan the Lion, and even Reepicheep the Mouse, each giving beautiful insight and wonderful understanding. Never will you forget what takes place in these stories. I highly... HIGHLY recommend these books for anyone who feels the need to be enchanted. If you read them as a Biblical allegory or not (and I didn't), these stories will do nothing less than touch your life.
Rating: Summary: I just don't get it Review: I like fantasy. I have Grimm and Anderson in hardback, love the Oz books, memorized page after page of Lewis Caroll as a child, and have read Tolkien far, far too many times. My Inner Child is well read. However, this is a series that has never held my interest. As a child I read Lion, Witch and Wardrobe; was underwhelmed, and did not read the rest until I was grown. People obviously have strong feelings about these stories, almost four hundred reviews as a write this, over 350 with five stars. I reread the whole book, and I still don't get it. All children's literature contains an element of socialization, instructing the reader on what is proper and improper behavior. Lewis lays this on thick, with all the subtlety of a medieval Morality Play. If Lewis were not known for writing Christian Apologetics the moral relativism in these stories would bring them under as much attack as Harry Potter (heroic characters lie and steal). Character development is non-existent, and they aren't even well written (voice varies, without apparent pattern, from Third Person Observer to Third Person Limited Omniscience with odd and distracting First Person interjections). Nonetheless, I was happy to find the whole series in a single volume, and it has been placed on the bookshelf in my guest room. Maybe someone will enjoy it more than I do.
Rating: Summary: Set is missing The Last Battle? Review: I have not bought this set, but in looking at the picture of the set, there are only 6 titles present and none of them is The Last Battle. Also, I greatly prefer the originally published sequence. I am continuing to shop for a set hoping to find one in that sequence.
Rating: Summary: This is THE best series out there! Review: What can I say about this series that hasn't already been said? I discovered it when I was a child, devoured the entire series, and was really sad when it ended. I have to say that I can't wait for my daughter to be old enough to read, so she can enjoy them. I try and re-read this series yearly, it's that fabulous. Really, you will not be disappointed. If you like Harry Potter, then pick up this series. This volume has the entire seven books in one format. It's too easy! Really, buy this book! Thanks for reading! ~Pandora
Rating: Summary: Harry Potter's cool, older cousin Review: A timless classic that Harry Potter will never equal, Lewis weaves his incredible philosophies into fairy tales you wish would just never end. I am twenty and have read these books repeatedly since I was a child, these books led me into a love of philosophy (particularly lewis's). I see my life reflected in these books- and everything I ever loved or felt comforted by in the character of Aslan. I recommend these books for children and adults, some of my most vivid philosophical realizations have come through my adult readings of these books.
Rating: Summary: An amazing childrens book Review: CS Lewis has woven a masterpeice with this series. Re-reading this series has brung back memories of when i was in forth grade and addicted to these books, which take place during WWII. A must read.

Rating: Summary: Magic that is similar to Harry Potter Review: I loved this series when I was younger, and finally finding it in one huge books was wonderful. I re-read it and was enchanted by Aslan(again) and all the wonderful characters and talking beasts. The writing style is very similar to that of J.K. Rowling, but unique in it's own sense. The plots and twists take you on an incredible journey through the land of Narnia and your own imagination.
Rating: Summary: A very good way of introducing children to Jesus Review: Since my son Amos was born,9 years ago,I must have read the whole series through to him and my daughter Rebecca at least 4 times! They never tire of it and,to tell the truth, neither do I. This is a timeless Classic in every sense of the word and the story of Aslan, his nobility and self-sacrifice for those He loves are a wonderful way of introducing these moral values to your child. If you are a Christian, they make even better reading for the way in which many Biblical doctrines are brought to life and exemplified in the story. If you are not, they still make a very good story, without the darkness of Potter or the overly saccharine quality of other childrens literature.Get it,read it to your children - they will love it.
Rating: Summary: It has lots of adventure Review: I read The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, and I must say it was very entertaining! After I read that book, I wanted to read more. These fairy tales include magical creatures that are good and evil. It's a very good story for kids 9-20. It's very fun fur teachers, too. My teacher read one to my class, and we loved it. It was very detailed and you could picture the story in your head as you read it. It has magical creatures, but it's not anything like Harry Potter. It's just as good, though.
