Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A compelling read from one of America's top radio hosts.
Review: There's a reason that Barbara Walters commanded a record-setting multi-million-dollar advance for her forthcoming book: If someone who's had the experience of interviewing some of the foremost public figures of our time doesn't have a unique perspective, who would?

The same is true of San Francisco's #1 radio talk show host Ronn Owens, who has spoken with some of America's leading politicians and personalities on both ends of the political spectrum about some of the most pressing issues of our day -- and who separates the wheat from the chaff in his new book VOICE OF REASON. Especially during an election year, VOICE OF REASON is a must-read for anyone looking for a straight-talking approach to exploring the issues. Rather than spoon-feeding a pre-digested point of view, VOICE OF REASON prompts readers to think for themselves -- a welcome and refreshing change of pace, not to mention an approach that has the power to lead opposing forces to discover and establish common ground.

Summary: A breath of Fresh Air!
Review: This book is a take-no-prisoners look at the current issues of society, pushing buttons all the way. This is a book for all the people that don't vote straight Democratic or Republican tickets.
Owens shows why both sides are at fault amidst today's problems and he gives us hope that our political world might not be forever divided between the right and left side, since both have good and bad points.
A must-read for everyone!

Summary: DULL AND INCONSISTENT. SHALLOW "REASONING"
Review: THIS BOOK REALLY DOES NOT DESERVE TWO STARS BUT I ALWAYS FEEL SORRY FOR THE AUTHOR WHEN HE/SHE GETS A ONE STAR REVIEW. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND YOUR TIME THIS BOOK HAS LITTLE TO OFFER. A LET DOWN FOR SURE.

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Don't waste your time or money on this one.
Review: This book seems to reflect Ronn Owens' fear of being disliked. He offers little insight in justifying his so-called "reasoned" positions on issues that require making difficult choices, something he seems incapable of doing. Instead, he tries to avoid controversy at all costs by rationalizing his own bland and often populist opinions.

Save your money.

Summary: "Ronn" and "Reason" do not belong in the same phrase
Review: This is a good book and worth every penny. It is quite rare in today's polarized politics that you can find a book by an independent thinker--quite a breath of fresh air. The book has a diary feel to it, though Owens does tend to ramble at times and jump around.

Do not pay attention to the reviews that give it one star--they are idealogues who didn't even read the book--note their ad hominem attacks and they don't even discuss, rather give one sentance fragments from radio shows.

I take off one star because of how much Owens concentrates on California politics. However, if you followed the recall, you probably won't have a problem reading the book.

In summary, if you want to think critically and rationally about politics this is the book for you. If you are an idealogue who is not open to other points of view STAY AWAY--this book is not for you, stick with your Coulter/Franken/Moore etc.

Summary: Even Worse than his Radio Show
Review: Titling this book "Voice of Reason" is the literary equivalent of Bush and his advisers dressing Bush up in a pilot jumpsuit so that he could prance about on an aircraft carrier: An idea that may have seemed good but once executed was goofed on forever after.

Ronn (and what's with the schoolgirlish addition of the extra "n" in his name?) as the self-described "Voice of Reason" has recently opined:
1) The United Nations right to punish Hussein and invade Iraq is the same as a Parent's Right to punish their kid when the kid won't clean his room;
2) Pilots on commercial airlines are entitled to ANY weapon they want in order that they may feel safe;
3) San Franciscans shouldn't have voted for Mayoral candidate Green Party member Matt Gonzalez because Ronn thinks that Gonzalez looks and smells like he needs a shower.

Similar "insight" can be found in Owens' book. The fact is that Ronn is yet another self-absorbed baby boomer with an absurd sense of entitlement; a baby boomer who became obsessed with the Seinfeld TV show, viewing it not so much a Comedy but rather a blueprint on how one should lead one's life. The fact that a publisher thought the world needs Ronn in print is probably a good indication of the publishing world as it exists today.
An insipid book; a vapid book;

Summary: "Ronn" and "Reason" do not belong in the same phrase
Review: When I heard the title of this self-absorbed cretin's book, I nearly soiled my pants. I have listened to his radio talk show for years and find him to be superficial and marginally retarded. He has commonly referred to the National Enquirer as a valid information source in the past on his program, and has a tendency to over-simplify and utilize fallacious "logic."

Why was I surprised by the title? Consider the fact that this idiot tried to draw an analogy between Saddam Hussein and his own daughter (who was reluctant to clean her room) at the KGO "all-stars" debate on February 28, 2003.

He said that Saddam Hussein was like his daughter, who refused to clean her room. Luckily, one of the other more intelligent debaters (I guess that rules out Pete Wilson, huh?) asked Ronn exactly whom the USA represented in his ioditic analogy.

In other words Ronn, if your daughter refused to clean her room, you would employ a stranger from outside your house to beat the hell out of her so the room could be cleaned??? HUH???

This guy is a buffoon...
