Rating: Summary: About Time Review: Coulter has given us a real history lesson, especially about communists in government and presidential indifference. She sets the record straight about Senator McCarthy. It's about time this information received high profile. Coulter takes no prisoners.
Rating: Summary: Just the facts . . . with provocative opinion Review: Ann Coulter, an effective legal scholar and political commentator, has marshalled the facts regarding the question, "Which party is more patriotic?" Using definitive scholarship on Joseph McCarthy from primary sources (the original transcripts of Senate hearings and his speeches), the Verona papers (the translation of intercepted Soviet cables), and a plethora of newpaper quotes, she shows that: 1. There were spies in the State department, as Senator McCarthy said. 2. Presidents Roosevelt and Truman did nothing about them, other than promote them, after being notified of their communist sympathies. 3. Even when the communists were removed from government, their lives continued smoothly, either being employed by academia or by the Soviet or Chinese government. 4. The staunchest anti-communists were Senator McCarthy, President Nixon, and President Reagan, and they were the most vilified by the Democrats. Her provocative opinion is that since liberal Democrats consistently support Communists and oppose the U.S. defending itself, they are de facto guilty of treason, by giving aid and comfort to the enemy. If you want to read a challenge to the conventional interpretation of the Cold War and Senator McCarthy, be sure to read this book.
Rating: Summary: How Delightful!! Review: It was with great pleasure that I read Miss Coulter's book exposing the left's constant and abiding hatred for this country. Bravo! It's very interesting that almost all of the negative reviews posted here attack the author personally but do not even attempt to argue rationally against the points she makes. Why? They can't--it all true!
Rating: Summary: More proof that Democrats are far superior to Republicans Review: Well another year another work of fiction from Republican liar and loser Ann Coulter. Republicans have been praising this book, but then again they are notorious for being liars and cowards. In this new piece of literary garbage, Ann makes many laughable cliams, such as: 1. JFK was a traitor, even though he was a war hero who fought for his country and waged a war against Cuban and Russian communisim. 2. Harry Truman was a traitor, even though he defeated the japanese and sent the US Millitary to beat back the communist insurgency in Korea. 3. Democrats can't win wars, even though we won WWII and Kosovo. 4. Joe McCarthy was a great guy, even though he was actually a nutcase who is despised by history for ruining hundreds of innocent lives. You know Ann Coulter is what in the Middle Ages would have been known as a "Wandering Idiot" A perosn who travels the country side babbeling nonsense. The difference is that at least back then they knew enough not to give Wandering Idiots book deals. Ann Coulter may be a hottie, but she is still a waste of space.
Rating: Summary: An entertaining and satisfying book Review: "Treason" is a provocative, polemic book, written mainly for the conservative faithful, and for the curious but undecided (the word "treason" will certainly jump to their attention). Liberals no doubt would dismiss the book as hysterical and unfair. And they do have a point. Ann Coulter often over-simplifies the arguments, exaggerates the facts, and her words are too harsh. However, to those of you not convinced of the message of the book, here are a few comments: Guys, this isn't a history book. It is a polemic book, and it's supposed to be funny. Don't try to extract seemingly outrageous quotes from it and then express righteous indignation. Instead, look at the facts, investigate further if you want, and see if the facts affect you in any way. Doesn't it bother you that Alger Hiss, a proved Soviet spy, worked in the highest echelons of the US government under two Democratic presidents, with their knowledge and support? And aren't you upset that, despite all the evidence against him and after his conviction in court, Alger Hiss was still vigorously defended and promoted by Democrats? Even today, there is an Alger Hiss professorship in social sciences at Bard College. Doesn't it bother you that proved traitors can be Democratic heroes, while patriots like Joe McCarthy are regarded today (and not just by Democrats) as the incarnation of evil? Wasn't McCarthy among those who brought to light the whole Red conspiracy? And didn't the declassifying of the Venona project in 1995 show that Joe McCarthy was mostly right about the Soviet spies he indicated? Read Ann Coulter's book, and think about it. It's worth your time!
Rating: Summary: Written so even Liberals might understand it... Review: This is an excellent book which plainly states what, in the main, is ailing our government these days, and treason seems to be the correct term. Ann Coulter is a lovely lady who posses a towering intellect to match her beauty. I had to chuckle in reading the review by "A reader from DC"...this person makes the case for what ANN Coulter writes in the book: liberals practice intellectual dishonesty and deceit as easily as falling off a log; "A reader from DC" got him/herself into such a froth as to critcize JESSICA Coulter(whoever that may be), although perhaps Jessica really is "the stupidest person in the world". I greatly admire ANN Coulter and her body of work...I actually read it and highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Who is Jessica Coulter?????? Review: "Reader" from DC (July 27, 2003) says that the author of this book is the "stupidest person of all time" and a "conservative dumb blonde". Hmmm....I know of ANN Coulter, that wrote this book. I don't know of any JESSICA Coulter. If you're going to criticize someone, hon, get your facts straight. Looks like it's you that is the dumb and illiterate one. Liberals stupid? Reader from DC----case in point.
Rating: Summary: THE TRUTH HURTS, ... Review: A wonderful and balanced book about the insidious machinations of the "blame America first" crowd, exhaustively researched and entertainingly written. ...
Rating: Summary: Ann, America and Absolute Truth Review: Ann does it yet again. I have read both of her first two books, and realized then that I was reading words from a remarkable person. Someone who captures thru acute perception and research, trends that are dangerous for our nation. She writes with sharp humor, mincing no words, and leaves you wanting more. She informs the reader of how very much we have been lied to by the folks who have rewritten history to fit a specific agenda. This book is packed with factually backed up data on how this came about, why this came about and the impact of libertys taken by liberal elite who truly have fallen out of love with our nation and wish to rearrange things to fit their socialistic dreams. I love that Ann is writing, I love that she is direct and backs up her words with evidence. I like that she nails the liberals in the sharp verbage that usually is only reserved for conservatives as liberals, given free media passes, slam all things republican. This book is a gem. McCarthy will never be viewed the same way in this household and I will buying Ann's next book here-as soon as it becomes available. Buy this book-it will enlarge your vision, increase your understanding of our world and give you a huge barrel full of marvelous humor.
Rating: Summary: Great source for facts, not fundamental causality Review: I love how Ms. Coulter presents thousands of facts that are not easily found elsewhere. She also does a terrific job drawing logical conclusions about what particular beliefs must imply about more fundamental beliefs, e.g. that being against the war on terrorism implies treason against America's founding principles. However, her key deficiency is her inability to understand why the liberals hate America. It is not because we are religious, since we aren't (see the Dark Ages for a religious culture). It is because America is proud, successful, happy, and individualistic, everything hated by those with no self-esteem (liberals).
