Rating: Summary: Full of Lies Review: How could anyone, right or left, in good faith produce this book? Coulter should be ashamed of herself.
Rating: Summary: Garbage Review: Please, this book is a load of garbage. If this is a representation of the Conservative Right, then we're in big trouble. This is nothing but pure hatred. Don't bother buying it, but if you must, buy it used.
Rating: Summary: Out of Touch with Reality Review: It is difficult for me to understand how so many people can actually stomach this poor excuse of a book, and why it has become a bestseller. This book panders to the rising psychotic right-wing-wacko crowd by bashing people that understand that terrorism cannot be stopped by invading countries that we do not like. This book is so filled with inane statements I have had trouble taking it seriously; how can anybody? It is simply ridiculous to say that liberals do not love america, or that liberals tend to favor Communist regimes. It is useless as an argument. One might as well attempt to create a theory which says that conservatives tend to plot anti-government terrorist attacks such as the Oklahoma City bombing, and that conservatives are inherently rascist bigots who hate other Americans if they look or sound different. Such sweeping statements and overgeneralizations are useless in a rational debate except as emotive arguments, and Coulter uses them simply because she has no ability to present any logically firm arguments. Conservative Republican or liberal Democrat, if you are looking for a rational argument against liberal ideology then do not read this book. If you are not looking for either a realistic or a rational approach, but rather an emotional and divisive heap of demagoguery (and are the type who calls french fries "freedom fries"), then go ahead and numb your mind with this piece of trash. Figuratively, if you like approaching problems blindfolded with a sledgehammer, nationalistic marching music blaring in the background, then this may be the book for you. Otherwise leave this pulpy piece of junk alone. I give it no stars.
Rating: Summary: This book is a MUST READ! Review: Ms. Coulter exposes the pattern of treasonous and slanderous behavior of those on the left who have consistently supported causes and individuals hostile to our nation. With ascerbic wit, she carefully lays out the case on why the left was wrong about McCarthy, why they are wrong about terrorism, and how their foreign policy ventures have consistently proved to be a how-to manual on what NOT to do if you want to protect national interests. As someone who was born during the Vietnam era but is unable to remember it, having the other side of the historical picture has proved to be invaluable. The book will shock many, will anger some, but will educate all with its well documented display of truth. At times, you simply will not be able to put the book down. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: What is it about Hollywood types? Review: Does anyone ever wonder why it's the rich, affluent, "stars" like Sean Penn, Charlie Sheen, Jane Fonda, Barbara Streisad etc., who constantly identify with the left, - just like the rich, affluent, "stars" in the 40's and 50's? Ann Coulter doesn't reveal the answer but there must be some explanation. Perhaps it's the guilt associated with making so much money and knowing that, but for the luck of the draw, they'd be just like the rest of us "have-nots". Having grown up in Wisconsin during the McCarthy years I have always felt the need to apologize for him. NOW I KNOW THAT IT'S NOT NECESSARY! He was driven to his grave by the folks he condemned (communists and communist sympathizer all). Rest in peace, Joe McCarthy, you will always be known, by those who care, as one of the real patriots of this country. Ann Coulter tells it all. She's absolutely great!!
Rating: Summary: Debunking of Revisionist Liberal History Review: Unfortunately, in history class, many of us got the wrong version of events. As we get older, we realize just how much of society is politicized and history is no exception. Coulter points out how leftists have successfully foisted historical revisionism on a generation in a way that villifies Joe McCarthy while ignoring the treachery of Communist spy Alger Hiss and more importantly, the nonchalance of the Truman and FDR administrations in ridding themselves of Soviet informants. The book makes for an engrossing read. Coulter makes a compelling argument about the patriotic actions of McCarthy and how it was politically advantageous for the Left to rabidly demonize him long after he passed away. Coulter's trademark witty style and well-researched argumentation make it a book well worth reading, irrespective of your political leanings.
Rating: Summary: Save the hatred for the real bad guys. Review: This book scares me and I still lose sleep over it. Too much hate. Go ahead people, disagree, but go easy on the hate. If you love your country, you've got to love your neighbor, even just a little bit. Save the hatred for the real bad guys.
Rating: Summary: ANN speaks the truth. Review: Another triumph for Ms. Coulter. Well researched, easy to read and hard hitting. It's not hard to put liberals in their place with facts, but she is particularly effective at this task, even better in many respects than Mr. Limbaugh. Buy it, read it, learn it, live it, love it!
Rating: Summary: Defending Joseph McCarthy Review: Contrary to Anne Applebaum's negative review of "Treason" by Ann Coulter, I found this book to be very informative. I also read the "The Venona Secrets" by Romerstein and Breindel, which Miss Coulter refers to frequently, and agree with her assessment of that particular period during the cold war. The passage of time and the release of additional Soviet documents covering the cold war/Soviet espionage era, will more than justify Ann Coulter's opinion of how Joseph McCarthy was on the right track. I also read "Useful Idiots" by Mona Charen and found that book to be a parallel to Ann Coulter. Anne Applebaum, an editoral writer for the Washington Post, wrote the review which was published in the Chicago Sun Times dated August 3, 2003.
