Summary: Who Is This Retard?
Review: Ann Coulter should look into modeling instead of writing books. She might find more success in that arena.

Summary: Facts, Facts, Facts!
Review: Wow. Eye opening facts. And I thought I knew it all.

I couldn't find anything in the internet attacks on this book that refuted her facts and thesis. Zilch.(Presumably anticipating attacks, she footnotes almost everything.)

"McCarthyism" means "blacklist" to most, but McCarthy was only concerned with Communists in sensitive places in the US government. Period. And there were more than a few who worked for Stalin.

McCarthy never targeted average folk and had nothing to do with Hollywood (which was the House---McCarthy was a senator.)

Basically, the left, now as then, hates loudmouth Joe McCarthy more than the murderous Joe Stalin. Their political blindness and support helped Stalin kill tens of millions.

At least they could say they're sorry...

Summary: Contrivance vs. Reason
Review: Ann Coulter's style is to blend reason and contrivance into what is mostly rhetoric posing as intellectualism. The Verona Papers are hardly the last word on Mc Carthy if we consider that the attacks on Mc Carthy focus on both his substance and his style. Ms. Coulter fails to make this basic differentiation and instead contrives to make Hiss the linchpin of her argument whereas Mc Carthy's blacklisting and career-ruining were anti-Americanism at its worst. It is as if Ann has learned the power of political pornography via provocative rhetoric. In doing so, she has become
conservativism's wannabe Camilla Paglia. Of course, Ann lacks the academic horsepower of Paglia and so, in a typical right wing manuever, seeks to co-opt liberal pop-culture to appear "cool", this in the same way that Christian Evangelicalism first condemned rock music and now copies it and profits it. Ann is contouring GOP prejudices and is following the Limbaugh methodology of seeking to legitimatize these prejudices via an appeal to the masses. It is a feedback mechanism that the GOP relies on to keep its propaganda on track and Ann is part of this well-oiled machine. Technically, Ann is a very good writer, but she has intellectually saddled herself with sometimes preposterous contrivances which I suppose she has fabricated for effect and television appeal. Unfortunately, it is hard to disentangle Ann the television pundit and GOP spokeshead from Ann the writer. I think Ann devised it this way so that her books are seamless with he sound bites and short, frequent appearances on FOX, etc. What we see emerge is a packaged "Ann product", a brand name, and not a great writer or thinker whose work will endure. If anything, Ann will simply be a role model for other angry young conservative women who, like Ann, want to transform their squirrel rifle -- you know, the one Ann shoots on the back porch? -- into a law degree and a GOP spokeshead/rubber chicken circuit career. Yet if this makes one a lot of money, then why not contrive? Personally, I will never take Ann seriously until she tacks a Ph.D onto her name and does a decade teachning in a major university. Only then will she be able to claim the title of intellectual that she know steals for convenience -- this in the tradition of Peter Jennings and Rush who made it acceptable for media figures to lack formal intellectual compentencies. Of course, all conservatives know that colleges are "liberal" and so this argument, like all things liberal, can be easily dismissed. This is the essence of Ann and her ilk.

Summary: excellent writing and so very true
Review: Once again, Ann Coulter knocks media-anointed liberals off their golden perches with her stunning, exquisitely documented writing! Bravo, Ms. Coulter! The LaBrea tar pit of vitriol bursting from liberal reviewers--including those masquerading as "Republicans"; we know better--further reinforces the truth of Coulter's judgment that liberals are hateful creatures. One might argue about Coulter's sarcastic style--I personally would prefer that she tone down the constant, biting quips in her works--but if the style inflames the political left and emboldens the political right, it has served a worthy purpose. No wonder the cockroaches of the left are scurrying for dark corners; Ann has exposed many of their leaders to the light of day for the first time, and their dirtiness cannot be easily re-hidden!

Summary: Full of foot-noted facts
Review: This is an interesting read and difficult to counter. It is extensively footnoted and direct. Ann, as typical, uses her direct, no prisoners approach and succeeds on many levels.

You can tell that it is a great book based on the screaming leftist reviews here (especially the ones who claim they are "conservatives", yeah right). When they get so riled you can be sure Ann Coulter must be hitting a nerve....

Summary: Shame on us, from a conservative
Review: This book is so full of distorted facts and down right lies it makes me ashamed that to say I am a conservative Republican. Ann Coulter is very much what is wrong with America. Instead of healthy difference of opinion we have offensive blanket statements that are untrue.

We as a people of a free country have the responsibility check all personel testimony with substantiated records that can be backed up. Sadly as conservatives we have Ann in our camp but we don't have to recommend her or her book.

Summary: This book will make you dumber
Review: No one should trick themselves into thinking that Ms Coulter approaches any topic from the Cold War with balance or objectivity. She clearly began this book by saying to herself "All liberals are evil, now how do I prove this". Critical thinking is clearly not one of her strong suits.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Patriotic
Review: It's amazing that liberals attack Ann Coulter's book without even reading it. Liberals are tragically trapped in some kind of post-prep school snobbery and obnoxiousness. Ms. Coulter's book could not be more thoughtful, accurate or necessary. McCarthy was, to paraphrase JFK and as Venona proves, a great American and a true martyr. Give up the fantasy that the Rosenberg's were unjustly slain--they were traitors, McCarthy was a patriot and liberals continue to be wrong, dangerously wrong.

Rating: 2 stars
Summary: For lazy intellectuals and small-town recluses only
Review: If Ms. Coulter presented a more compelling argument for why the right's perspective makes more sense instead of just insulting the left, I think this book would be more interesting. Sarcasm doesn't substitute for substance and playground insults (with a bigger vocabulary) may reinforce what some already believe but contributes little to American politics or thought. I pray (yes, pray) that foreigners who unfortunately happen to pick up this book don't think this is the best America is capable of.

Summary: Ha Ha HA !
Review: I consider myself a independent but I have never seen anyone who twists the truth as she does. Liberals hate America? Thats the biggest load of bs I have ever heard. Whatever you do, steer clear of her and all of her books.
