Rating: Summary: Horrible Revisionist history Review: Venom and bile that portrays itself as historical analysis. Shallow research and inaccuracies make for overly harsh generalizations. While the Liberals of this country are not immune to criticism, this book is terribly slanted and misguided.Avoid.
Rating: Summary: who published this? Review: she's a talking head on tv -- making the transition to a writer -- and she comes off like a lunatic. kind of a reflection of michael more -- but less entertaining and certainly less interesting.
Rating: Summary: Too bad Steve Martin already has the title "Pure Drivel" Review: Do we really need to exhume McCarthy and pretend he was good for America? Ms Coulter seems to think so. Her catty remarks on Good Morning America betray her true role: the court jester in the new right-wing media order. Pat Buchanan must be proud.
Rating: Summary: She's psychic Review: As a liberal, I'm delighted to find out that Ann Coulter knows what I think and knows how I feel about my country. Can't wait to read the book and find out more about myself. How does she do it?
Rating: Summary: hurrah for institutionalized bigotry Review: it is heartening as an american to see that the long standing american tradition of institutionalized bigotry is getting more of the backing it needs to continue from this brilliant book. since it is not enough that our country is being run by a bigot, let's make sure that no one can talk about him being a bigot without risking being called a traitor (much less call attention to his inability to spell his own name). since this is the land of the free only for the right, let's make policies that continue to limit the civil liberties of anyone of color, and that raise suspicion about people who are american citizens, because that colored skin surely means that treachery is waiting in the wings. moreover, if anyone stands up for peace, let's immediately suspect their intentions as un-american; after all, protesting shouldn't be allowed here, either. perhaps it is time, since the political climate seems to be geared in that direction, to look back to one of the most sucessful and effective promoters of institutionalized bigotry in recent history; his name is hitler, and he, too, suspected protesters and punished them brutally, captured and killed people for their ethnic origins, ideas, and sexuality, and all the while, called himself a patriot. god bless the kind of amurka that, once again, has headed (often unwanted) into other peoples' countries, totally disassembled any semblance of order, and then, just as promptly, left civilians to pick up the pieces, literally, of their society alone. and god bless a land where, when a group of protesters assembled recently on the purdue university campus, another group threw rocks at them and hung nooses in a nearby tree (*surely* recalling the history of racial violence against african americans as a threat to protesers is not terrorism). yes, god bless amurka.
Rating: Summary: This book stinks!!! Review: Poorly written right wing trash. Ann Coulter has a reputation for making abnoxious insensitive comments about everything from Vietnam veterans to immigration. Here comments were inflammatory enough after 9/11 for the right wing National Review to fire her. Here latest book is another attempt to inflame the masses with shock jock prose with ideas that seem borrowed from Adolf Hitler and Joe McCarthy. Save yourself some money and buy a real book by a great intellectual like Noam Chomsky and lean the real motive behind conservatives like Coulter.
Rating: Summary: Once again, Ann lifts the veil... Review: ...that liberals had succeeded in putting over the eyes of mainstream America. This time it's regarding, among other topics, the 50-year-long distortion of what Joseph Mccarthy's motivation was back in 1950's, and how his supposed power at the time was (and has been) grossly twisted and overstated ever since. I, for one, would like to know why it has never been made common knowledge by schools or the media that the Roosevelt and Truman administrations allowed hundreds of spies of Joseph Stalin to not only work in their administrations, but to have access to classified information. Thank you, Ann, for shining a light on this.
Rating: Summary: No understanding of Conservatism Review: I don't know why I do this to myself, but once in a while I read a couple of over-hyped pop-political books. After finishing "Living History" by Hillary Clinton (a mediocre book at best) I felt I should balance it out. I read "Treason" in one sitting tonight. My evaluation? The author has no understanding of what the word "Conservative" means. She understands that there are Republicans and Democrats, but she doesn't understand that there are ideas that supersede both parties. She also has no grasp of history and wields it like a propaganda tool, bluntly throwing out "we know now" without any real basis to back up her assertions. Her endorsement of McCarthyism through me into laughing fits. McCarthy was the worst kind of socialist! Sure he was anti-communist, but then so was Hitler. Being a national socialist does not make you a friend of Conservative ideals! Coulter appears to represent the attempt by pop-culturist to hijack what remains of Conservative ideology in the name of partisan goals. Coulter's politics are as collectivist as Lenin, her revisionist history as laughable as the Chinese government's and her fanaticism as frightening as Hillary Clinton's. If I didn't know better I would think she was a plant from Ted Kennedy's office meant to make us look like a joke. If you are interested in why Conservatives are right, and why Liberals are wrong, this is not the book for you. If this was the only thing I had to go on to choose a 'side' I would be campaigning for Al Sharpton right now. Instead go read something about or by Barry Goldwater, Milton Friedman or maybe even pick up something by Ayn Rand (hey, she's nutty but good). If you are already a Conservative and you are worried about what has happened to our cause, then read this book, get off your duff, and do something to stop this sort of thing from ruining our reputation forever. It's this kind of fanatical non-sense that scares the voting public away. You can be certain that the Democrats are squealing with glee every time Coulter comes out to promote this book. It's like votes in the bank for them.
Rating: Summary: Refreshing and profound..Better than Slander Review: Ann Coulter has outdone herself with this text. If you liked Slander, You will love Treason..it's even better and covers more important data. As with her previous works, Coulter has well researched her material. Treason is even better than Slander. You must read this book. Five stars ain't enough. Treason is ten stars and above. A real blockbuster book.
Rating: Summary: Another Home Run for Coulter - Game Over for Liberals Review: I rushed out to buy Treason today, and I just finished it. It was amazing! Confirming what most conservatives, and quite a few moderates had suspected all along, Ann serves a decisive blow to the Leftists in America who are dedicated to seeing this country fall in shambles. Meticulously exposing the lie of "McCarthyism" for what it is, liberals can no longer hide behing their precious Orwellian symbol of fear and ignorance. "Treason" launches the most compelling arguments to date to support the thesis that American liberals are patriotic only to the extent that it keeps them from being "boiled in oil." With the introduction of "Treason," the fate of the American left hinges on two hopes: 1. They had better hope no one reads this book (clearly unlikely to happen, at least not in this dimension), and 2. They had better hope someone can prove Ann's claims wrong (again, only possible in a world where Clinton was a good President and Alger Hiss was really innocent). Unless both of these conditions are met, it's hard to imagine any rational American ever taking another Democratic candidate for President seriously again. Hats off to Ms. Coulter, she's hit another one out of the park!
