Rating: Summary: Glad We Are On The Same Side. Review: Liberal Weenies must be running for cover. Ms Coulter has done it again. When God gave out talents he endowed Ms Coulter with beauty and brains. This dynamic lady should aim for the White House. I'll pound on doors for her in a heart beat. Hillary talks about "gasping for air". Ann talks with credentials and backs up her statements with the truth. Ms. Coulter nails Nobel Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter and his honest buddy, Clinton. I'm so glad that Ann and I are on the same side. I can tell you now I wouldn't stand a chance in debate with this talented lady. This is "must reading" for all America.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: Ann Coulter is her usually witty self, tearing apart known illusions in style. Fantastic book.
Rating: Summary: A rallying cry for America's future Amish Review: I've always appreciated Conservative rants as a form of post-cyberpunk metafiction. To read the rantings of a Sean Hannity or Michael Savage, one can actually believe one is living in an accelerating, fragmenting future similar to the worlds described in Alvin Toffler's "Future Shock" or Neal Stephenson's "Diamond Age" -- i.e. a world where nation states are breaking down and being replaced by small, ideologically-defined tribal networks. Indeed, one can easily imagine today's cult of Conservatism becoming something akin to a high-tech Amish culture 20 years from now, complete with anachronistic dress codes and their own special "Conservative meal" menus served on airliners. Ann Coulter's new book, unfortunately, fails to deliver that crazy magic thrill of being part of a "society in transformation" which other Conservative writers have delivered in recent years. Ms. Coulter, to her credit, knows her tribal niche market well and pours on the "Us versus Them" rhetoric in generous slop buckets, undiluted by facts, footnotes or logic. Unfortunately there's no intellectual ammo to be found in this book. Ms. Coulter asserts everything and proves nothing. What this means for you, the Culture War Consumer, is a good sustained adrenaline rush and a renewed sense of outrage against your hated "Liberal" enemy, but no persuasive arguments to wield against said enemy. Likewise, for normal Americans who are curious about the game rules of Conservative tribalism, you'll find nothing useful here. It's all pretty much a rallying cry and no discussion of first principles. You'd be much better off reading "Savage Nation" or revisiting the classic works of William F. Buckley. And for the pop-futurist, interested in scanning the media for emerging nodes of social change, definitely pick up Bruce Sterling's "Tomorrow Now," which has an excellent chapter dedicated to the breakdown of the nation state and the rise of neo-tribalism. Ann Coulter's book is, however, notable for its exploitation of the cultural amnesia regarding the infamous Joe McCarthy. There's a gap in public memory just big enough for Ms. Coulter to drive her lumbering truck of a book through, and she floors it, safely betting that few of her fans ever saw the March 9th, 1954 edition of Edward R. Murrow's "See It Now" (or if they did see it, they've forgotten it.) You can perhaps find this video at your city library. The sight and sound of Joe McCarthy repeatedly breaking into squealing, high-pitched giggles during an otherwise sober Congressional hearing did more to destroy his reputation than the alleged armies of revisionist Liberal historians ever could. Simply by pointing a video camera at the man and letting him fulminate and gibber, Edward R. Murrow exposed McCarthy for the fruitcake he was. It's remarkable now to realize that this 30 minutes of famous and important television, a pillar of America's public consciousness a generation ago, has faded so completely into obscurity.
Rating: Summary: Ann Who? Review: Another few bucks for America's psuedo Hooker
Rating: Summary: Ann Coulter Needs Medication...No Kidding Review: After reading this book I'm more sure than ever that Ann Coulter needs some serious psychiatric help. Zyprexa might be good to help deal with her hallucinations/psychotic meanderings and paranoia. Maybe a good SSRI like celexa or paxil to help even out her neurotic obsession with seeing the world as so "black and white", refusing to acknowledge the inevitability of "grey areas" that the rest of us deal with on a daily basis. Please don't put money in this woman's hands by buying this book. If you must, send her information on medications that could help her live her life more fully and with alot more grace.
Rating: Summary: yikes Review: If you ever have a chance to listen to Al Franken talk about Ann Coulter, do so...and don't waste your money on this fresh batch of muck raking.
Rating: Summary: Lost Among Labels Review: This book makes the common mistake of dividing Americans into liberals and conservatives. Such a neat division of citizens does not exist. Worse yet, the book leads the reader to believe that outside of the liberal/conservative labels, there are no other opinions worth discussing. Anyone who writes a book today and ignores the wealth of different positions, as can be found on the Internet for example, writes such a limited book at their own peril. It is not necessary to explain all opinions in detail, however the lack of discussing possibilities such as the New World Order and other supposedly fringe ideas is a glaring ommission. America is not a country divided into two groups. Talk shows and authors would like us to believe so to make their job easier. I am concerned about the publishing industry when a book with such a limited world view appears. Ms. Coulter does a disservice to herself by ignoring other influences on events in the USA and around the world.
Rating: Summary: Your'e joking right, please tell me your'e joking. Review: With every passing word I was sickened and horrified at the submoronic statements that Coulter was making. People actually swallowed this drivel? People like Coulter have one agenda in mind and that is to make money. She has discovered like the Newt Gingrichs'(who cheats and lies to his wife while she is dieing of cancer, then preaches family values) that there is a fortune to be made by wrapping themselves in the flag and demonizing a particular group. These books appeal to the ignorant and mean in our society. "Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundral," definitely applies to Coulter and her fellow ilk.
Rating: Summary: A Complete Farse! Review: This book is set of complete lies that Ann Coulten makes just so people would talk about her. She says "all liberals commit the act of treason". Yet, when she is asked to name liberals that have commit treason, she fails to give any names of liberals that are still alive. This is a terrible book which most be avoided at all costs. I can't believe this book every got published. Stay Away!
Rating: Summary: Weak writing, weaker research Review: I think she's run out of steam. It really was not that good in my opinion.
