Rating: Summary: One of the Best Books on the JFK Assassination Review: Simply put, this book presents solid SCIENTIFIC evidence that was at least two or more shooters. The book itself reads like a magazine and compiles the top articles pertaining to scientific evidence in the case. Fetzer himself only wrote maybe 1/3 of the articles and does not seek to present any of his personal theories on WHO did it, but simply presents evidence that proves that there was a conspiracy. A must for any serious researcher.
Rating: Summary: The best book on the JFK Assasination, I've ever read Review: Since before I was born, many Americans have believed that there was a cover-up in relation to the assasination of John F Kennedy. Many believed that the Warren Commision was a white-wash that refused to investigate any possibilty other than the possibility that Lee H. Oswald was a lone assasian who acted on his own in killing former President Kennedy. This book prooves beyond a shadow of doubt that Oswald could NOT have killed Kennedy. It also shows that those in the federal government tampered with evidence and even manufactured evidence to implicate Oswald. It prooves that the fatal shot that killed the President came from IN FRONT of the limosine the President was riding in. It also sites 15 instances of complicity by the Secret Service in JFK's murder. It also proves that there were a MINIMUM of 6 shots fired at JFK and the limosine that he was riding in. It shows how Arlen Specter and other members of the Warren Commision bent over backwards to not arrive at the truth in their investigation. It shows how Doctors who were in the trauma room and worked on President Kennedy's gunshot wounds have been hounded and persecuted for telling what they know and not agreeing with the official line on Kennedy's assasination. Medical experts (including those who saw Kennedy's gunshot wounds) explain exactly what happened to the President. Experts on Photography and Cinematography explain who the Zapruder film was edited, experts on radiology explain how x-rays were altered. Witnesses who actually witnessed the shooting were interviewed. The whole thing is very professional and exhaustively researched. The only complaint I have about the book is that it reads like a series of investigative reports published by experts for experts. I'm just a common layman. I don't need to hear the smae piece of evidence proven again and again and again to be correct. I don't need to hear every single argument the opposition has ever made to be disproven. In many ways the book is as dry and uninteresting as a courtroom trial. However if you can get past the stiff, dry, scholarly approach these experts have taken in their writings you will find some very fascinating and revealing information that the government doesn't want you to have.
Rating: Summary: A Time Waster Review: The book is based on the premise that the Zapruder film has been altered (which the writers say is evidence of the government's involvement in JFK's murder). The thing is that their proof of tampering isn't proof of anything except a lack of familiarity with film. What is pointed to (by "experts" who know nothing about film) as alteration is nothing more than film artifacts we would expect to be there if the film was authentic. I can't believe this made it into print.
Rating: Summary: A one-volume source for cutting-edge assassination research. Review: The conspiracy-no conspiracy "debate" remains, thirty-five years after the the death of JFK, a classic effort in mis-direction worthy of a David Copperfield. The only reason why the absurdist Warren Commission lone nut theory persists is that it bears the imprimatur of the state. Imagine: In 1963 an official government body declared that all evidence points to a domestic political conspiracy in the death of the president; then a small group of self-styled "critics" emerges and states that, evidence to the contrary, one man was responsible for the act. What would be the shelf life of such "criticism"? Thirty-five years? How about thirty-five seconds! These sad notions are powerfully illustrated in Professor Fetzer's invaluabe single-volume compilation of cutting-edge assassination research. The proof will not go away. The men and women who offer the proof will not got away. "Assassination Science" does not rewrite history; it reveals history.
Rating: Summary: The best undiscovered book of the last decade Review: The most important aspect of this work is the background of its author. Professor Fetzer's credentials are extraordinary. He is a recognized expert in the philosophy of science field. His scholarly work on "critical thinking" is widely acknowledged as brilliant. His application of those skills to the JFK assassination is the first of its kind. His conclusions are only far-fetched and bizarre if you believe that the rigorous application of scientific principles is useless. Buy the book and read it carefully. It is shocking.
Rating: Summary: Emphasis on 'Science' : Think or Get out of the Kitchen! Review: The Thinking Man's Warren Report...Fetzer's collation of articles by meticulous JFK assassination researchers is fascinating, technical, rigorous and compelling. If you want someone to make it simple for you, go elsewhere. On the other hand, if you are a serious, data-driven JFK buff, this book is a gold mine. The evidence presented was authoritative and convincing - especially the discussion of the optical density data on the autopsy X-rays and the minute analysis of the Zabruder film. (I dug out my Life photos of the Zabruder film, for instance, and was floored to realize that several glaring inconsistancies were right in front of me, all along...) There is no particular effort to answer the 'Who Dunnit?' - except to add enormous credence to the premise that the American government agencies, FBI SS, CIA, military, etc., must have participated, at least on some level. As one with a long-standing fascination on the role of scientists in the philosophical quest for knowledge,(while at the same time being a shameless physics junkie), I especially appreciated Fetzer's contributions(and other's), on logical fallacy, the nature of proof, and the pitfalls of researching outside a cohesive scientific community. I realize that Fetzer has an axe to grind with JAMA, but having cut my conspiracy teeth on Crenshaw's JFK, Conspiracy of Silence, I felt that axe needed the work. Were I a physician, I'd quit the AMA over their treatment of Crenshaw. The book contains invaluable references to other responsible works on the assassination, providing if not a roadmap, at least a starting point in the wilderness; there are thousands of volumes on this highly popular subject, so this is no small favor. All in all, the book lives up to its title. I am still reeling from the final chapters!
Rating: Summary: Absolute Trash Review: This is neither science nor history - it is just embarrassing. I could excuse a "leap of faith" or two, because we all inadvertentally make them. I cannot, however, excuse a series of such leaps to arrive at what is purported to be a scientific and historic conclusion . . . especially when that conclusion is at odds with itself. This book is a series of essays by different authors. These essays report facts and have conclusions that are at odds with each other. We are asked to believe, though, that they are the result of a team effort and that these authors are all in agreement. It is almost as if they were tossed together without being read. I saw too many examples of sections of documents and/or testimony being taken out of context which caused them to reflect something other than what they intended. This infuriates me. Not only because I feel I wasted my money, but because there are those out there who (not having my background in the assassination) just may believe what the book says. My recommendation is not to even bother taking this out of the libary. If you've made the mistake of buying it, please remember to recycle.
