Summary: Good Book for New Bigginers
Review: I just recently converted this last Yule and I started with Scott Cunniham. I just bought my own copy of this book and find it very helpful. The Auther has it so broke down that I am able to understand it. I really find this book to be one of the gratest.

Summary: Simple, efficient, brilliant......
Review: This is my first Scott Cunningham book to read and WOW, what a book it is. Cunningham's writing style is unbelievably simplistic, yet there is also depth to it. Makes for a very nice read. I understand this book, in particular, is aimed at the solitary practitioner. With that said, please don't let it throw you. Cunningham keeps an open mind throughout the book, reminding the reader that what he has written is not written in blood or set in stone. He urges the reader to search out and seek his or her own way of doing certain things. He just sets out the guidelines and does so in a very non-threatening way.

I can't recommend this book enough, even to those who have practiced for a while; you might just learn something new! Or at the very least, see something in a different light. Overall, an absolute joy to read!

Summary: Must read for the religiously miss-informed.
Review: After finishing this book I am truly impressed, this author has managed to do a fantastic job explaining what Wicca really is and clearing up a lot of miss-information about Wicca that has been very wide spread. I gave this to two of my friends who no matter how many times I tried to explain just couldn't get past their idea that Wicca is little more than a "fairy tale religion", which is so untrue. Once they finished reading this book they had totally changed their viewpoints. Must read for anyone.

Summary: Its never enought for me.
Review: I do LOVE this book, and I would have rated it 5 stars, but it just doesn't have enough info in it for ME.
This is a great book for beginners and people who are looking to improve their skills. But don't use it alone, and don't solely rely on ANY one book for all your needs.
It covers a variety of useful topics, isn't boring to read, and is pretty much accurate.
I would definately reccomend it.

Summary: Wicca : A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner
Review: This book, like all Scott Cunningham's work is over written and full of mistakes.
A self proclaimed Witch.
His books are rubbish, I could do better, as a person never mind a witch.
To, me he has stolen other peoples ideas, re-worked some and made a lot up.

Summary: One of the Reasons I'm a Wiccan
Review: Of course, it's just one reason, clearly overshadowed by spirituality and following my heart, but still, this book was the second book on witchcraft I ever read. The first being Starhawk's Spiral dance, while inspiring, was a bit hard to work into my own beliefs and practices. Not to mention the lack of a coven.
So it was the guide made for me. The solitary practioner. It's clear, concise, and quite adaptable.
My one problem was with the idea of self initiation. I still don't quite get the point. But that's really a personal connundrum I'm still pondering.
I highly reccommend this to beginners and my fellow wiccans that get a bit sidetracked from the path every once in a while. It's great for a brush up or simple reaffirmation.

Summary: I am but a newbie
Review: Unknowingly, I feel as if I have been drawn to wicca all my life, I have just started acknowledging those deep down feelings. I feel Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner by Scott Cunningham is a great introduction for the newbie.

One who has been in the scene for any length of time may find the book too simplistic for their taste.

I have a few more pages to go in the book, but I am enjoying Scott's style of writing. I am looking forward to learning more and reading more. I give this book 5 stars.

Summary: A gentle introduction
Review: I found Scott's book a peaceful, enlightening and easy introduction to Wicca. Of course, there is much more to Wicca than appears in his book, but to a newbie it allows you to soak up the basics in simple language and gives you plenty of food for thought. It was also great for me as a solitary as I didn't have access to many sources at that time. I agree with the reader who says it is a good basic guide, outlining all the major points, and can also be used as a reference when learning from other sources.

Summary: Well Blow Me Down
Review: This book is great for any beginner or for someone who wants to learn of witchcraft. Cunningham explains in this book how Wicca is not just a practice but also a religion itself. Many missunderstand this concept I would advise them to read this book. It is a great introduction into Wicca, gives basics and also advanced teqniques. It gives great information, as the authors book of shadows is included. This itself can help guide you to writing your own. IT has to be one of the best books Ive read so far on there subjects. I would highly reccomend this book!!!

Summary: A beginning
Review: I believe the young person below has misunderstood what the Traditionalist meant when she attempted to recount part of the history of Wicca. Before Scott Cunningham wrote this book, there was no other kind of Wicca- you joined a coven or you followed some other path. That's just the way it was in the days of its inception; personal opinion had nothing to do with the matter. I would also like to add that I am a bit surprised at Amazon's allowing a reviewer to indulge in name calling, insults, etc., at the expense of another. Surely this is contrary to the Conditions of Use in writing a review at this site?

That being said, I would like to recommend Cunningham's book as a fair beginner's manual, with the caution that there is much more to be learned in this area before you can consider yourself well-versed in the ways of the Wicca. Getting so head-up, especially about a subject you know very little about, does not serve either yourself or anyone else and can only damage credibility in the end.
