Rating: Summary: Great book for beginners! Review: This is a great little book and I love it to death! "Wicca" was one of the first books I bought on the subject and I refer to it again and again. While it does not cover, or even give a hint of, the vastness of Goddess worship and earth spirituality (of course, it's not meant to be), it provides a step in the right direction for anyone interested in the practice of Wicca. I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: What ever happened to the religous experience? Review: I didn't like this book for the same reasons I don't like Buckland. It's a "just do it" witchcraft book. There no regard whatsoever to the rich pictoral folklore of old Europe, which, whether modern Wiccans will admit itor not, played a larger role in the developement of Wiccan beliefs than did any genuine historical tradition. The rituals are all about energies. The book is geared toward new agers, not Earth worshippers. This is the kind of paganism that you can practice in your sleep. "Feels the energies" he says over and over again. Condensing those energies into actual entities, like faeries, is what separate pagans from your standard new ager. But, like I said, Cunningham's devotion to history and folklore amounts to almost nothing. There are some good listings for corropondances, but what is there is shortened, meaning you'll have to look elsewhere if you're looking for a 'complete' Wiccan resource.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book, but lacking in... something Review: I must say, as a beginner in Wicca, Scott Cunningham's book helped me to realize what Wicca was all about. While it is a good book, it seems like more of a textbook/manual, then a true perspective from the author. There are very few real spiritual aspects of the book, but it was excellently done.I think that it could be improved upon, but for beginners, it's the place to start.
Rating: Summary: A must read for any aspiring witch. Review: I'm a teen, and this was the first book I read about Wicca. I enjoyed it very much and continue to refer back to it throughout my studies of The Craft. This book starts you off on the right foot.
Rating: Summary: Cunningham is the best!! Review: Scott Cunningham is one of the best writers of Wicca. His books are informative and easy to read. This book is a must have for beginners. Even though I have been practicing for years, I sometimes still look back to this book.
Rating: Summary: Exciting and revealing, practical and fun! Review: I love the way that Silver comunicates with her readers. She is neither too serious or flighty, she is real and genuine. I feel as if she has given me so many tools and ideas to reach the divine. Raven deserves my thanks and my blessing. Blessed be...

Rating: Summary: Simply the Best! Review: Mr. Cunningham has given the world at large a gift that may never be rivaled in regards to Wicca/Witchcraft! I picked up this book by accident on day at a friends house. I read it straight through in two hours. I devoured this book! It said everything I had felt in regards to religion. It spoke to my very soul. I have since bought ALL of Scotts' books. The straight forward, "ok if you don't like this part, leave it out or change it to make yourself feel comfortable with it.", attitude of the book really hooked me. It was never preachy or pushy. It explained an alternative religion. Scott wasn't trying to convert, just enlighten people to something else. As I write this and think of the dramatic change this book has made in my life, I have but only one regret. I never got to tell Scott THANK YOU!! I felt as if I had a friend. Brightest of Blessings to You Scott Cunningham!! A forever friend.
