Rating: Summary: Wise and tolerant - what spirituality should be. Review: Many others have reviewed this book in depth already, so I'll simply say that this is an excellent book. Not only as an introduction to Wicca, but also it has a certain feel to the way it's written - wise, accepting, challenging the reader to push his or her own boundaries. A real joy to read, as well as a fine reference.
Rating: Summary: A definite for wiccans Review: This was the first book I read when I first became interested in Wicca. Originally I was just curious about the religion. This book gave a good explaination of what is about. It didn't bash one type of wicca over another like so many other books do. It was able to destroy some of the myths I had about wiccans. Its a good overall book for those who are just curious or are novices. I would recommend it to anyone because Scott Cunningham is really good at connecting with the reader no matter their background. A must have for everybody.
Rating: Summary: Gentle Intro to Wicca Review: I love all of Scott Cunningham's books, but this is my treasure. It was only my second book that I had ever read about the religion of Wicca. Once I was halfway through, I knew that I had found what I was looking for. I had come "home". Scott very gently guides you through information and does not preach. He writes of the history of the Craft, beliefs, laws, tools, rituals and gives guidelines for everything. His appendix section (of suggested books, music, magazines, and organizations) is very helpful and thorough. Scott includes prayers, herbs, crystal, magick, ritual, and Goddess/God information that is easy to understand. He includes a sample Book of Shadows so that a beginner knows where and how to start off. It is the book that I go back to over and over again and I cannot recommend it more highly. It is not a book on spells or magick (although he includes some in his book), but a novice's introduction to the spiritual, but practical side of Wicca. I love it and you will, too.
Rating: Summary: A welcoming introduction for those interested in practicing Review: This book was very informational.
Rating: Summary: Wicca made easy from Cunningham! Review: "Wicca: a Guide for the Solitary Practitioner" was the first book I ever picked up about Wicca, and it's one of the only ones I now use. This book is written so anyone can understand it! An excelent choice for the experienced practitioner or the beginner.
Rating: Summary: One of the BEST ways to start exploring Wicca Review: Cunningham's books -all of them- are unpretentious, down-to-Earth, clear, concise, and easy to understand. He never comes off as a "know-it-all", nor as someone who is so rigidly "traditional" that they leave NO room at all for adaptations and customizing the basics to fit one's needs. However, at the same time, he IS providing you with good, solid, *accurate* information on which to base your belief system and spellwork. Just remember though, he was Wiccan...and not all witches ARE Wiccan...there are many other traditions of witchcraft out there. And Cunningham would be the first to say that himself. Cunningham's books are terrific for the newbie starting out, and maybe even for the intermediate level witches as well. We should always explore as much as possible.
Rating: Summary: Wicca : A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner Review: Think that you may be interested in the Wiccan Way? Here is a great place to start. I love all of Scott Cunningham's books. This is useful, very easy to read, and a great primer for the beginning Wiccan.
Rating: Summary: The best book on wicca that has ever been published Review: This book is the best book on wicca that i own. In fact it was my introduction to wicca. Scott Cunningham goes over all of the basics of the wiccan philisophies, beliefs, tools, magick and gives an explanation on why everything is the way it is. Its written in a straight forward, easy manner which makes it easy to read and stresses imagination and individuality. This is the ultimate book for the beginner, if you are interested in wicca whether you want to practice it or if you just want to learn about it then this is the book for you. Dont let the size fool you (compared to other books by Llewellyn its tiny.) This book has more information than any other book that i have ever found. And is an invaluable aid in learning wicca. It is definitaly worth ten times its weight in gold!
Rating: Summary: When You Are On Your Own Review: I choose this title because most of us learning the Craft are on our own. As we learn we seem to start meeting other people of like mind as well. I really loved Scott's book. I liked it because he wrote what he feels and what came natural to him and I think that this is what is really all about to most of us. It just comes natural. Read the book. I guarante you will love it as much as I did.
Rating: Summary: Simply Marvy! Review: Easy to read, easy to understand. Amazing how Scott can put such complex ideas into such simple language. Marvelous book for any beginning witch/pagan. Even better than Silver Ravenwolf's books!
