Rating: Summary: Write on, girl! Review: I needed this book. My big birthday is quickly approaching and I've been whining constantly to friends about it. So one friend chuckled as she gave this book to me; she knew I'd eat it up, and it's true--Julie Tilsner sure knows how to cheer a girl up. Her concerns and observations are completely on target; she writes about everything I've been thinking, and she does so in such an entertaining way, reminding me of one of my favorite writers, Cynthia Heimel, who is equally as hilarious. Julie Tilsner should write a book like this every year--I'm there with her.
Rating: Summary: entertaining and poignant - 30 does not = expiration date! Review: I thought this was going to be a funny book but it was very stupid and neurotic. I seriously don't know this book's target audience - maybe junior high school girls (naw, they're too cool for this ...).
Rating: Summary: DULL, TRITE, AND NOT FUNNY Review: I thought this was going to be a funny book but it was very stupid and neurotic. I seriously don't know this book's target audience - maybe junior high school girls (naw, they're too cool for this ...).
Rating: Summary: Dull Review: I thought this would be funny or at least informative. All it is is stories about the author and other women about how they panicked over turning 30 and how their friends and families reacted to their choices. I found it difficult to finish.
Rating: Summary: Funny but unreal Review: I understand that it is a book of humor. But first, this book assumes that the mayority of women turning 30 is single. Second, it also assumes that if you have a stablished career and a confortable financial position achieved by hard work before turning 30, something's wrong with you. I agree with some reviewers that the targeted readers are teenagers or those who have not passed yet their teen's years. Please do not take this book seriously. Even though it's funny there are much better funny things to do with your time.
Rating: Summary: A pat on the back and a kick in the butt for 30-somethings Review: I was quickly approaching my looming 30th birthday when I began reading this book. Funny, quick-witted and true-to-life. It is an excellent guide to anyone facing a monumental birthday. Dispells the myths and takes a laughable look at the realities.
Rating: Summary: Great Book!! Review: I will turn the big 30 in a week and I'm pretty stressed about it! I saw this book and had to buy it! It is hilarious! Ms. Tilsner captures exactly how my friends and I feel about turning 30, and she writes it in the most charming and hilarious way! I laughed out loud reading this book. A must-have book before turning 30!
Rating: Summary: very funny, uplifting; and she's right, too Review: Julie Tilsner tells it like it is -- chickdom only gets better after 30. And you'll crack up reading about why. Great gift for any of your girlfriends about to hit the dreaded 3-0, and why they should relax and have an appletini instead of stressing.
Rating: Summary: Amateur writing Review: My suggestion to other readers is - do not waste your time or money on this book! When the big 30 began to approach I ordered the book from Amazon. I couldn't wait to tear into it. Unfortunately, I was very, very disappointed. The best part of this book is the cover, and that's no lie. I ordered this book thinking I would get good information and it would be funny. Instead all I learned was that you can string together pages and pages of drivel. With the constant hysteria about turning 30 in this book, it will make you have a mental breakdown. The book feeds into this false culture of fear. Also, the book reads like a college term paper - a bad college term paper.
Rating: Summary: Humorous, feel good advice Review: Okay, let's not take this book too seriously. It does say humour/self-help on the back cover, in that order. I am 29, have not been counting, but feel a whole lot better about it after reading this. I normally wouldn't be caught dead reading a book like this but someone passed it on and I thought I'd read 20 pages, hate it, and give it back. At the beginning it did instill some fears I hadn't had before, but I just couldn't put it down. I was waiting to have my worries assuaged and they were. Read this because its funny and it will help you change your perspective of life being over at 30. The good things are coming and I'm glad Julie pointed them out in her comical way.
