Rating: Summary: Great Book..... Buy It Review: As a busy college student about the only non-text book reading I do is via audio tape. This story sucks you in and the end is very moving. I recommend it without any reservations. I agree w/ one reviewer's; this is the firemen's 'perfect storm'.....
Rating: Summary: another perspective Review: As a girlfriend of a Marlborough, MA firefighter, this book hit very close to home. I cried many tears as I turned each page. Because of my first hand experience with the bond of brotherhood, I initially speculated the value of the author's words. I was pleasantly surprised. Sean Flynn created such strong insight into Chief Macnamee's thoughts. I constantly feared what he would be faced with next, and I felt as though the only way to support him was to keep the book in my hands and the lives of those men in my mind. Even though I knew of the devastating ending, I couldn't stop reading. The reactions of both the chief and widowed wives seemed like an invasion of privacy but at the same time created a pocket of peace in my heart. At first frightened by the idea of what the story would unfold, I am grateful that I trusted Flynn to tell a story of courage. With each chapter, Flynn's words became more and more resemblant of a voice in my mind each time the fire fighter in my life kisses me goodbye and says "See you tomorrow." This story is as real as it gets. After closing the back cover, two days ago, I feel greater appreciation and pride for not only the man in my life, but the firefighter in my world. This story is a must read.
Rating: Summary: I was holding my breath Review: Even though I knew the outcome of the fire there were points where, while reading this book, I actually had a hard time breathing. This book gave a very clear picture of what happened that night. Compliments to the author for sparing no details, even the painful things, so that we would know the victims intimately. Read it and you won't be left wondering how this all happened
Rating: Summary: A Must Read!!! Review: I am a firefighter and after reading this even more brings you and your Fire Dept. closer. The way that the author explains each of their lives just makes you feel so bad for the families, the fire dept. and the community. Buy this book, it's for everyone!!!

Rating: Summary: Moving read Review: I am no expert but would like to say that this book is a wonderful read. I found it both technically facinating and emotionally riveting. It has bestowed upon me a new level of respect and understanding of what goes on in a fireman's mind and world.
Rating: Summary: Riviting Review: I read this book simply because my boyfriend said he couldn't put it down. I was mesmorized by the bravery these men went gave out to fight the fire. After every page, I kept thinking to myself, "This is TRUE." I have a stronger respect for the brave fire fighters aroundt he world. Not only is this book about the fire and the fighters themselves, but it also depicts the family's devistation after the fact. Every page brought tears to my eyes. I would recommend this book to anyone, especially family's of fire fighters. Didn't want to put it down.
Rating: Summary: Realistic and compassionate. Review: I really enjoyed this book. My dad was a firefighter and I thought the writer portrayed the firefighters with a tough realisim without taking away their compassion for what they do. The families stories seemed to convey not only the day to day fears that all firefighters families have but, a small sense of what they went through when the unimaginable happened to them. Overall a great read by a writer who seemed to care about the subject.
Rating: Summary: Superb Insight Review: I thought this book was suberb. Having read the official Board of Inquiry report( available on the City of Worcester web site), the author accuratley places human faces on the brutal facts of this disasterous fire .
Rating: Summary: Highly recommended! Review: I thought this was a great book for anyone interested in fires and fire-fighting. I have been reading a number of fire related books lately and this one was the best of the bunch. It was easy for me to understand even though I have limited fire and fire-fighting knowledge. I liked the depth given to the firefighters and I found myself becoming very involved with their story and the story of the fire. The action is pretty fast-paced; this novel reads almost more like fiction than non-fiction.
