Rating: Summary: Forget about it Review: My vision for a better America: Re-elect George W. Bush and forget about this left-wing, super rich Kennedy (as in Ted) clone.
Rating: Summary: I've never read such crap in my life. Review: One star is giving John Kerry an extra star. The conspiracy of Amazon.com prevents me from giving him NO STARS, which is what he deserves. NO STARS. Why NO STARS? Because this book reads like a children's book. Except it's got no pictures. Except for the picture of his ugly mug on the cover. And look, on the cover, John Kerry doesn't even give himself stars. A call to service my ass. It's more of a call from my credit card company asking, "Did your card get stolen? Who bought this piece of poop?"
Rating: Summary: Another Look Review: Regarding the gent from Oklahoma who said his support for Kerry made him a Kerry-Okie, I would respectfully disagree on the grounds it is shameful to give such cutesy names to mental retardation.Regarding the book, it still has all the forethought of Hop on Pop with the integrity of Jayson Blair to boot. It's amazing that the most liberal member of the Senate would write such a "moderate" book! Now, hmm...why would he do a thing like that? Certainly Republicans haven't seen this sort of flip-flopping before from the other side of the house! The man will not be the next president. Use the pages from this tome to dry your tears if you must, but John Kerry will not be president. Too vanilla, too much hair circa 1968, and too ill-defined, even after this "definitive work". Howard Stern once suggested that Michael Jackson's book would be better titled "Turd-Burglar". After reading Senator Kerry's book, I feel that political preferences aside, Mr. Stern gave that title away too soon.
Rating: Summary: Important Reading for American Voters Review: Specifically about his vision for a revamped citizenry of the USA, this small book is interesting and vital reading for anyone planning to vote in the 2004 elections. Important not only so that we have an opportunity to get to know the candidate, but important to have a written record by which he can be held accountable. This veteran politician has many great ideas...some lofty, some practical...but all admirable. His final chapter is the best, and most inspiring. He quotes a colonial reference about our country, saying that...What makes America great is the fact that Americans are GOOD. It is that kind of optimistic, patriotic "call to service" which Kerry seems to inspire, rather than rhetoric and instinctive, empty flag waving on command.
Rating: Summary: "I DIDNT KNOW THE GUN WAS LOADED." Review: THAT WOULD BE HIS SLOGAN. IT'S AMAZING HOW HE WAS A WAR HERO AND THEN AFTER HE CAME BACK TO THE USA STARTED TO BASH THE VIETNAM WAR FOR HIS OWN POLITICAL AGENDA. HE VOTES FOR ALL THE THINGS IN THE SENATE THAT HE IS COMPLAINING ABOUT NOW AND IS DOING THE WHOLE " I DIDNT KNOW THE GUN WAS LOADED" TECHNIQUE WHICH HE HAS BEEN DOING ALL HIS LIFE. IF HE VOTED FOR THE WAR THEN HE SHOULD STOP BASHING PRESIDENT BUSH AND RESPECT OUR PRESIDENT. PEOPLE LIKE TED KENNEDY AND AL GORE (HARDLY MODERATES) ARE NOT GOOD FOR THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. SO MUCH FOR THE PARTY OF THE "PEOPLE." PLEASE VOTE REPUBLICAN THIS ELECTION!!
Rating: Summary: Bumper sticker Review: The man looks like a mule, and has about as much sense. It's Walter Mondale and Michael Dukakis all over again. A double talking, tax and spend democrat running for president because, well, heck, someone's going to do it. So the man with the smooth forehead who never heard of Botox is running. Keep running, John, keep running. Don't stop at the White House, though, because it's already occupied and the current resident is going to stay there awhile. I doubt he'll be reading your book, but who will? It's not a book, it's a bumper sticker.
Rating: Summary: Are we going to lose this guy?! Review: This book is a gentle read, far from hue and cry of the republican propaganda machine. Kerry does not come out as 100% inspiring, but do we really want a 100% inspiring guy as president? I mean Hitler, Stalin, and those lads were 100% inspiring, idea-driven, and idealistic. Much good they did to the world... Why would we need someone that sways the masses at well-coordinated rallies? Whay cannot we have a guy that does his job, and let the rest of us do our jobs? That is what Kerry outlines in this book! He wants the rest of the world to get along with the US, he wants the rich to give up a little bit, nothing painful, so that the poor can improve their lot. He does not promise paradise, but he promises a less ideological and less intrusive vision than certain other presidential candidates. Kerry's vision is inclusive, he does not exclude undesirables.
He can be a bit wordy sometimes, but he is still clear, and, fundamentally - he can put two words together and form a sentence! He also understands that yeeha makes a good slogan, but does not really make for good politics.
Rating: Summary: Senator John Kerry's A Call to Service Review: This book will not only help you to get to know Senator John Kerry, it will make you feel good again about America! It is serious stuff, but it is not technical, tedious reading. There are quotes from heavy weights in the history of our country like Abraham Lincoln, yet in no way did I feel like I was reading a history book. I am buying ten more copies to give as gifts.
Rating: Summary: great read Review: This is a great read... For books similar to this, please visit www.campaign2004.com.
Rating: Summary: What a load of.... Review: What a load of dung! You don't need to go to the internet for facts, just read his other book "The New Soldier" to really understand what he stands for. He's not fit to wear a military uniform. And giving this book one star is one start too many. Read both to confirm your own faith in REAL AMERICANS like GW Bush, not a two-faced anti-American like Kerry.
