Summary: Reader from USA never read this book
Review: It is unfortunate that there isn't a weighting process by which if a jerk like Reader from USA can post a dozen poor reviews of a book he never read it is weighted lower than a review from someone who at least read the book. To balance this useless slime from the American Illiterati, I will give it 5 stars and admit I haven't read it. However, I know Mr. Phillips has long been a voice of the conservative right, I have read other works by him, and it is a great sign that some Republicans now recognize the Bush cartle for what it really is. I will buy this book!...

Summary: Where is the proof?
Review: I find it interesting although not too surprising that Phillips offers no evidence to his claims in the appendages of this book. It appears to me that Phillips is offering opinions, not facts and is only trying to sell a book. This book belongs in the fiction isle. Read it as entertainment, but not as fact. This book looks like it was written by Al Gore, Howard Dean or Paul O'Niel! No credibility!I also found Phillips comments about election 2000 interesting. Obviously Phillips forgot to mention the military votes that were never counted or the Florida voters, who would have vote for Bush but did not go to the polls because had deliberately but falsely announced Gore as the winner.Skip this book. It's worse than bad.It s al so obvious that voting here is being manipulated (shades of election 2000 - is Al Gore manning this website?)A better book to read is At Any Cost How Al Gore Tried To Steal The Election.AGAIN I ASK: WHERE IS THE PROOF!

Summary: A good reason to short the S&P!!!
Review: If this book truly represents how even 1/10 of Americans feel, then I am going to short the S&P 500, the Nasdaq and the Dow and move to Switzerland and spend the rest of my life snow ski-ing. If this book represents how even 1/10 of Americans feel, then this great country is in deep trouble.I can understand the author's point of view; what else wouold you expect from someone who helped get Nixon elected? Buut true blooded American's? C'mon. I expect better.

Summary: Buy two----makes great bookends!
Review: One thing that I can say about Kevein Phillips books is that they are thick and very useful. I would buy two copies, they make great bookends. Or can be used as a doorstop. Or can be used to swat maggots or cockroaches. Very versatile book indeed.

As far as the content inside----as some other reviewers have indicated, if you enjoy reading tabloids and other trash, then you will enjoy this book. If you want facts or reality, then you will find more reality watching Pro Wrestling than by reading this trash by Phillips. Actually, I think that Pro Wrestling is more realistic than the idioms perpetrated by Phillips in this book....and more entertaining too!

It's your money. Your choice. I'd spend it elsewhere. Anywhere but on this trash. Total waste of money.

Summary: Some poor tree got cut down for this?
Review: I have read some outrageous trash about the Bush family, but other than those cheap tabloids on sale in supermarkets, never have I read so much garbage as this. Save your money on this biased nonsense and buy a cheap tablid instead, that is if you like to read this sort of junk. So save your money on this and buy The Star or National Inquirer if you like this sort of thing.

Looking at the 5 stars tells me just what a sorry state this country is in. No doubt these are the same people that think that Michael Jackson and O.J. Simpson are innocent too. Give me a break.

Summary: Who is Kevin Phillips? Michael Moore's grandfather???
Review: With the exception of Michael Moore's garbage, I have never read so much garbage in my life as I have by Kevin Phillips. Is Phillips Michael Moore's grandfather? That would explain it!

Summary: I'd wait untill it shows up in used book stores
Review: Like bad movies that show up in the video store before they make the big screen, Phillips books usually show up in the used book stores before they make the traditional retailers.

If you really want this book, wait untill it shows up in your favorite used book store. Shouldn't take too long. Nobody with any real smarts ever reads Phillips junk.

Wait untill it hits your used book store. It may be worth a buck. Maybe or maybe no.

Summary: Democrats will enjoy this book, but then
Review: Look at who has been representing the Democrats lately:

Bill Clinton - spent more time in the penthouse than in the White House.

Al Gore - tried to steal what he couldn't win.

Gray Davis - took the California economy right down the toilet (as Gore would have done to America had his scam worked)

And look at the current flock of democrats running against Bush. They are all a sorry lot and are too busy fighting and disagreeing with each other to do any good for Americans.

You have Howard Dean who refuses to open his files and aligns himself with Al Gore. Does this mean that Dean will try to "steal" the election just like Gore did?

We have a retired military man to whom the military have no respect for. Does that tell you something?

Lieberman looks lost and confused since his "great pal" Al Gore abandoned him. Rumor is that Lieberman is now watching reruns of that old TV Classic "To Whom Can You Trust." Certaintly Lieberman knows enough now not to trust Gore.

The others? The Marx Brothers or the Three Stooges would fair better.

If you are a democrat, you will probably like, no love this book. But remember, who was it that pushed to get Sadam Hussein who is now safely behind bars instead of in power?

Who pushed the policies that has turned this economy around after Clintononomics sent it reeling down the toilet ala Gray Davis/California?

Do you we really want to see another 1970's type of economy with 14% unemployment, long gas lines, high interest rates and high unemployment again? I know I don't. Bush is doing a fine job and now if appears to be evident that Paul O'Niel is not even sure himself what he said. Notice that O'Niels book catapulted up to #1 here at Amazon even before it was released. Goes to show you that people will believe anything, true or just rumor.

Summary: Required reading for pinheads
Review: No doubt the Bush bashers will enjoy this drivel by Phillips. If you are looking for a reason to rationalize your current inequalities, whatever they may be and want to blame Bush, then this book is right for you.

If, on the other hand, you are intelligent, you know your history, you know that Bush I and Ronald Reagan fixed the mistakes of Jimmy Carter and Bush II fixed the mistakes of Slick Willy aka Mr. Zipper, then you will see this trash for what it really is.

I do agree with Phillips that the Bush's have a Dynasty going. And that Dynasty has created a better America and a safer world.

Thank God for the Bush's. Thank God for GWBBII and thank God for our great military.

Only people who never read the financial pages and are not aware of what is really going on will support this book. Kevin Phillips comes across as a very bitter man.

Summary: A history lesson in history
Review: The Kevin Phillips books that I have read "Wealth and Democracy" and now "American Dynasty" confirm for me he has the old fashioned values of respect for people and respect for the nation. I certainly agree with everyone's good review of this book. Mr. Phillips's book shows our present leadership underwent decades of planning and has embraced the simplest of human sins - greed, arrogance, and stupidity. I find it personally interesting that Mr. Phillips follows the same theme of historical research to explain the present social-political situation that also appears in the works of Noam Chomsky. I doubt neither man would want to get caught in the same room as the other, but they both have a need to use historical fact to explain that we do not some how occupy a very unique and privileged position in time. I greatly appreciate these efforts to present an anti-apocalyptic view of our present government. We are in trouble; but of our own doing by not maintaining a free press to examine the values and decisions of our leaders. Mr. Phillips noted on a CSPAN discussion there is a major difference in press criticism between the Nixon and Bush II administrations. This book is hopefully an embarrassment to the media as well.
