Summary: Not As Good As the Book but Worthwhile Nonetheless
Review: Although this audio cassette claims to be abridged, which it is, it also contains information not printed in the book, which to me seems odd. This is the only reason I retain both book and audio cassette.

Theatre of the Imagination (Volumes I and II), to which I give 5 stars, gives fuller treatment to the stories.

Summary: Great!.......but still buy the book
Review: Every story a woman ever needed to hear is there. You will be swept up by the warm, rich quality of Dr. Estes' voice. Her analysis of the stories clean the windows of your mind and give you fresh tools to unlock gates and open the windows to your soul. This is one though that you still want to have in print!

Summary: Not one-sided
Review: I just want to say that this material is as valuable for the male as it is for the female. Just as the stories are timeless and archetypal, so are the messages contained within. I'd recommend WWRWW to anyone interested in inner work and understanding, and also the Theatre of the Imagination (two volumes) audio series, which doesn't suffer from the perception that it is for women (only).

Summary: Worse than wrong
Review: Ms Estes book is pernicious nonsense. She is a shining example of new age muddleheadedness. Such pretentious intellectual blather so easily leads to unadulterated self indulgence. That her "work" is a hit makes me shudder. Jack Rosenbaum, aka Werner Erhard, pulled off a similar financial coup with EST. ESTes, with an e, is right in the soupscam with EST and the bucks that follow. At least Shirley Maclaine did it with a smile.

Summary: Great book! Teaches us vital pieces of the puzzle of life
Review: Pinkola Estes is an anthropologist and psychologist who has studied ancient womens stories. She analizes the values being taught by those stories and explains how they were meant to warn the young ones about these situations in their own lives. If you want to discover these things for yourself, this is the book for you. I have given this book as a gift and it was well received. We could all use a grandmother like this to tell us of the pitfalls. And coloful stories to help us remember the lessons

Summary: Thank you
Review: Sometimes, when I'm feeling blue, and I don't know what to do, I pick up this book, flip it open, and read the first thing that catches my eye.I can't tell you how many times it has given me just the 'right medicine'. Thank you,Clarissa.

Summary: a new point of view on old facts
Review: This book is really new because it brings to people, not a pre-made solution but how to look for one, to some of their deep problems like real unhappy life and suicide.
To me the most important message the author gives to people is to let things die, as death brings life again. Also she allows people to stay close to their feelings and to listen to them.
As a women, she encouraged me to find and build my inner life, but, unlike some people think it is a long and harduous process, and one does not become a Wild Woman by simply wearing a wolf T-shirt!

Summary: A must for every woman who feels that she should "LIVE"
Review: This is no miracle medicine book for an overnight turn over to a new you.... This book is certainly not prescribed for a person who does not have the courage to look with in. But for the woman no matter what she is, a house wife, a professional or an executive, as long as she accepts that she wants to be the woman the lord created her as and stop living the way soceity/ circumstances / culture dictates, this book is a friend who will wisper in your ear each time where to turn and where to look.

I would not appreciate this book being used to be displayed on a book shelf as an indication of so called intellectual reading. It is not. This book is for every woman who likes to listen to tales, to think about these tales and to learn from these tales. Read it and ask your self, why is that so. Open the minds doors, stray into those corridors where you never wanted to go, never had the time/ inclination to go...... and you will in time, after reading/ rereading will find the graceful, fully alive, intutitive wolf woman with in. and she is the best friend you could have for the rest of your life..... and if you really love your daughter, show her the path.

The womankind should thank Clarissa for this book.

Summary: This author helped me to end a 30 year marriage.
Review: This wise woman gave me insight and the courage to make some difficult decisions. She told me about all of my inner women who are there to help me, to rely on the one who we call "women's intuition", and to try to live in the moment with wisdom and my Wild Woman instincts to guide me to joy.
