Rating: Summary: from "www.inspiredbyfaith.tk" Review: An adolescent girl is suspected of several murders. Even she doesn't know if she is the murderer. FBI agent John Knight and his two associates are called in to solve the killings, but discover much more than they had bargained for.-RELIGIOUS CONTENT: Demons . . . Demons everywhere. Demons can be very common in a horror novel. However, what isn't so common is how the power of Christ is shown. The demons fear Him and those who call upon His Name. There is an exorcism where a demon is driven out of a family's home. The primary Christian character, Luke Carmichael, is shown to have pure faith. His belief's are never shown to be a negative trait. In fact, the author goes out of his way to make sure that the reader understands that, no matter how terrifying a demon is, it cannot stand up to the power of Christ. This parallels James 2:19. -ADULT LANGUAGE/CONTENT: I couldn't find one swear word in the entire book. This is a far cry from modern horror authors such as King or Laymon. As far as adult content goes, the Wildfires are a group of adolescents who get together in the forest regularly to have massive, drug-filled parties. This behavior is condemned, however. It is shown that a demon is basically leading the children into depravity. I love how this mirrors the way things work when dealing with real demons. It is also revealed that one teen girl has had an abortion. -VIOLENT CONTENT: This is the reason that this book is not a children's book. There is a great deal of violence. Though timid when compared to other books in this genre, the violence does have a level of detail that is best kept from the kids. -CONCLUSION: A Christian Horror novel? The two genres don't seem as if they would go well together. However, Johnson disproves this way of thinking. Maybe if Anne Rice and her contemporaries hadn't taken God's Power out of the battle against supernatural darkness, then some of their books would be more enjoyable. If you are an adult Christian and love a good horror story, then pick up this book. If you miss Tim Johnson, then you'll miss a treat.
