Rating: Summary: Stimulating Page Turner Review: In his sequel to The Starsight Project, Crisis on Flight 101, Sam P. Perone takes the reader to an authentic early 20th century America and Europe as the characters telepathically travel back in time. My words will, without a doubt, fail to capture the intricacy of this novel. However, I will make a few general comments that I hope will be helpful to the next reader. First, the characters in Crisis on Flight 101 are more or less the same as in The Starsight Project, but the way Perone has continued to develop them and their relationships provokes a variety of intellectual and emotional responses in the reader, often from the same character. In addition, Perone has provided sufficient background about each character, which has resulted in an independent novel. Second, the concepts that Perone plays with - most notably, how our past and the past of others affect future events- are complex, but they are dealt with in a simple and believable way. These concepts penetrate and linger in the mind of the reader, leaving him or her thinking of the many possibilities they encounter each moment. Lastly, we should not forget that this novel is a work of science fiction, and Perone has, again, created a believable technological leap; the value of its consequences are up to the reader to decide. But don't be too quick to judge, because Perone ends with a most exciting twist that leaves the future (the present!) in a state of great change.
