Summary: Edge of your seat thriller!
Review: I read Mann's first book, "The Firefly," and thought it was great. The second one is even better. Slightly less noir but a LOT darker, "Mayhem" has one of the creepiest serial killers you'll meet in a book and interesting characters throughout. Boxer, the ex-cop, is back and just as tortured as before. What I liked about the book is how real it felt--this is no pretty boy Hollywood detective with a predictable plot and a pat ending. VERY suspenseful. Keep up the great work, Steven Mann!

Summary: Boxer Rocks
Review: Mayhem is even better than The Firefly - and that's saying something. Characters and plotting are excellent. So too is Steven Mann's mordant eye for the soulless gentrification of contemporary Los Angeles. If you hate shopping malls, phoney theme restaurants, yuppie bars and what generally passes for thinking in corporate California, then Boxer, the unlicensed PI fuelled on bourbon and pursued by personal demons, is the man for you. Mayhem is fast and violent, with Boxer on the trail of a missing girl and pitted against a drop-dead gorgeous serial-killer. More please, Mr Mann.

Review: this is clever, well written, engrossing to the end. Steven Mann is keeping the genre alive and kicking! Highly recommended
