Rating: Summary: An engaging mystery Review: Judge Wilhemina Carson continues her adventures in this engaging mystery set in Tampa, Florida. Judge Carson is an exciting, well drawn character. She leads the reader smoothly and convincingly through the twists and turns that yield a surprising answer to the question on every reader's mind -- whodunnit! Justice Denied exhibits the continuing development of Diane Vogt's writing style as well. I can't wait for the next book.
Rating: Summary: Worth reading Review: JUSTICE DENIED is the second installment of the Judge Wilhemina Carson series. The first was SILICONE SOLUTION, and Ms. Vogt is now writing a third installment called GASPARILLA GOLD. Judge Willa Carson is back again, but this time it's personal. Her husband George is accused of killing General Albert Andrews, Tampa's highest-ranking Army officer and nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court. The police found George's gun was the murder weapon so they refused to look at any other suspects, even though the suspect list is long. Even the General's own family had reasons to want him dead. Willa must solve this crime before her dear husband George is sentenced to death. Judge Willa Carson is an exciting multi-faceted character. The reader is taken on a wild ride with many twists and turns that keep the reader guessing at whodunit up until the very ending. M. Diane Vogt has been a lawyer for over twenty years and writes with an insider's knowledge of the Florida court system and the political scene.
Rating: Summary: Ambitious, engaging tale Review: Justice Denied is the second novel in the Judge Wilhelmina (Willa) Carson series. Willa's husband George is the prime suspect in the murder of General Albert Randall Andrews, Tampa's highest ranking Amy officer and nominee to the US Supreme Court. When the police seem so convinced of his guilt that they fail to consider other possibilities, Willa takes on her amateur sleuth role, investigating everyone who may have had a reason to kill Andrews. The long list she compiles includes a fascinating mix of suspects from the General's own family to George's defense attorney to various movers and shakers in Florida and national politics. This is novelist Diane Vogt's second time out and while her first was an enjoyable romp, this is a bit more ambitious book and therefore more engaging Vogt continues to write with the authentic voice of someone who has practiced law for over 18 years. In Justice Denied we are treated to many more insights into the workings of the Florida courts as well as the political scene. Most importantly, Vogt has created a fascinating character in Judge Willa Carson. She is someone we continue to care about and look forward to meeting in her next adventure.
