Rating: Summary: I loved Legacy 2006:Integrity! Review: Before the words "Islamic Jihad," "Abu Sayyaf," "Hezbollah" "Nick Berg," and "...assassinating enemies of democracy," were household phrases, Yocheved Golani wrote a novel about soon-to-be-true developments of global terrorism. Her 1997-1998 vision of the future became today's headlines.LEGACY 2006: INTEGRITY is the sequel to Miss Golani's 2001 "faction" novel about the developing "War on Terrorism," LEGACY. The hero in both stories is widower Jack Bowstring, a Marine Corps officer whose military and personal adventures take him into the world of international Islamic terrorism and romance. Jack's instincts helped him to prevent the theft of a top-secret military aircraft prototype and multiple attacks of WMD on US soil in the prequel, LEGACY. Jack eventually converts to Judaism, a rarity for Native Americans and a major reason for the action in Miss Golani's sequel, LEGACY 2006: INTEGRITY. The action in LEGACY 2006: INTEGRITY shifts from Guam in the Western Pacific to a desert area inside Israel, where Jack supervises an archaeological dig that troubles the US military. The non-Jewish archaeologists who have designed and operated the dig are religiously motivated to resurrect a beloved relic that disappeared before the Bible stopped being written. The problem is that the relic would have political, religious, and social implications on a global scale. The archaeologists, the US military and the Jews are not the only people who want it. I am pleased to say that although I typically find books of this genre superficial and kow-towing to a non-intellectual audience, this book breaks the mold. Readers will come away more enlightened about many issues after finishing LEGACY 2006: INTEGRITY. In between observations about the lack of integrity in politics, the moral bankruptcy of Islam, and the tensions raised in manipulative rhetoric, the acerbic hero of LEGACY 2006: INTEGRITY confronts a lot of issues that fill our evening news. Miss Golani did a wonderful job of describing the scenery and the scenes in her stories. LEGACY 2006: INTEGRITY almost seems to be a movie that takes place in reality. I recommend it to everyone who loves a good mystery, vivid action, and a love story that happens in many different contexts. It makes a wonderful gift for book lovers of any age or walk of life.
