Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Excellent hard boiled detective story
Review: I first picked up a copy of Bimbo Heaven as a joke to tease a feminist friend but it turned out to be an excellent read.

This story (and others in the Stone Angel series) follows the hard-boiled private eye formuala pretty well. Our hero's a loner and doesn't have much money. He gets hired on a case by a wealthy individual but the case gets more complicated as it goes along. He runs into trouble with both the bad guys and the cops but in the end perseveres through his cleverness.

Fairly standard fare, with a twist. Although our hero is of American descent he lives in France and appreciates good coffee for breakfast and wine with lunch and he frequently takes a break to go swimming in the Riviera. Kinda of a travelogue meets Raymond Chandler.

If you're looking for a good escapist private story you can't go wrong with any of the Stone Angel stories. Buy a copy of Bimbo Heaven for your feminist friends (don't worry: he treats his girlfriend well and she's more powerful and makes more money than he does).
