Summary: If you like Cornwell you will like this book
Review: Evelyn Sutcliffe works as a third year resident at the University Hospital on Manhattan's Upper West Side. Her significant other, psychiatrist Phil Carchiollo, has lately turned moody and argumentative. Ironically, his withdrawal occurs even as their friends and family plan to celebrate the couple's one-year anniversary together. Guest Gary Seligman, RN, tries mushrooms from a food platter anonymously sent as a gift and soon dies from respiratory shock.

Evelyn believes the poisonous mushrooms were intended for her to sample, especially since she received a threatening note just a few weeks before Gary's death. Phil admits that a former patient has recently been stalking him. At first, Evelyn feels the woman wants her out of the way so she can attain her obsession, Phil. However, new evidence points towards Gary being the actual target by a criminal who will kill Evelyn and her cohorts to keep his identity quiet.

Leah Ruth Robinson is renowned for her entertaining medical thrillers. Her trademark, similar to that of Patricia Cornwell, is to leave readers feeling they are visiting old friends as characters return in new story lines. The lead couple is a delightful pair, especially Evelyn. UNNATURAL CAUSES is a winning medical thriller that will leave readers wanting more tales starring effervescent Evelyn.
