Review: Although very interesting, I still felt this book needed a bit more. I can't quite put my finger on it, it could be more about the characters, it could be more details,....I don't know. Some of the description was a bit over the top, as in overly prosaic to being cliche. So maybe the author could start with eliminating that.
However, it is still an interesting read-- for what it is.

Review: I read and re-read this book on bus trip to the Texas-Mexico border. It set me up nicely going in, and it helped me acclimate myself to the local scene. This book, I found out, is the Bible of The Border. It chases itself and its readers like a wildfire a foot behind you as you race across some of the roughest lands in America. Mr. Paz-Martinez will be heard from again...and again...and again. Buy this book. It'll change your life!

Review: Just when you think no writer will ever look at South Texas, along comes this guy. What a riot! I read this book and was quickly transformed back to my younger days - when I, too, danced to the music of the movida and the catos. Bravo! I'll buy the next book this Paz guy writes. For sure!
