Rating: Summary: THRILLING READ Review: A thrilling well written book. It grabbed me on the first page and held me hostage until the very end...I couldn't put the book down.
Mr. Cook is a skillful writer...one of those gifted people who, with the stroke of a pen, fills the room with the scent of the deep woods and the damp of a morning fog.
He placed a northern city girl looking for a story on the trail of a mysterious local, feared but respected game warden in the hardwood mountains of East Tennessee. A tracker possessing feather light senses of smell, taste, sound, sight, touch...inherent characteristics in a special few men born to the mountains, more than just a sixth sense and, as with Mr. Cook in real life, possessing such an honest passion and love for the conservation and protection of our wild critters that anything less than a lifetime dedicated to their protection would be a failure.
This is a must read and a movie waiting to happen. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT READ!! Review: I recently read "Wounded Moon" by Gary Cook, and was absolutely blown away by every aspect of this book. Mr. Cook weaves a tale that will make you laugh, make you cry, tick you off, and then make you THINK! I had a lump the size of a grapefruit in my throat when I finished the last page.
Mr. Cook's characters are so believable - you can practically feel the emotions each character has during the telling of the tale. Mr. Cook is a gifted writer who evokes so many emotions -and he has a way of touching you down to the core of your very soul. This is a book that both men & women will be able to relate to - I even think teenagers would enjoy this story. It's graphically violent in a few places, but the violence is a necessary part of this story. You can relate to both the humans in the tale as well as the bear - you will find yourself alternately rooting for one then the other throughout the story.
I can see this book being made into an absolutely AWESOME movie. I could practically "hear" the soundtrack in my head as I read this book, and I have decided that the song, "I Believe" by Diamond Rio should be played during the final scene should this ever be made into a movie.
I HIGHLY recommend "Wounded Moon." It is one of THE best stories I have ever read.
