Summary: Diamonds aren't Forever
Review: In DIAMONDS AREN'T FOREVER, the sixth episode in the Hawkman series, Ms. La Pierre has treated us to a unique follow-up to Dirty Diamonds. For those that have read Dirty Diamonds you'll remember the diamond heist and its repercussions. And the clever little lady that is the only person who ever outsmarted Hawkman, and bruised his male ego severely. But fret not if you haven't read Dirty Diamonds. The whys and wherefores are so clearly written out in DIAMONDS AREN'T FOREVER that you won't miss a thing. This is a terrific stand-alone continuance.
Jamie Louise Schyler, AKA Jamie Louise Gray, AKA Shirley Nolan wants to sell her home in Medford, Oregon to a close friend of Hawkman. But Jamie and her boyfriend went to South America to escape prosecution for diamond stealing. That causes Jamie to be wary of returning to the States even though it's been years since the heist. But if she wants to sell her property and sever all ties with Medford she must return and straighten out the signatures on the title papers. Jamie had forgotten that her aunt had left the house to her under the name of Schyler, the name she was using when she lived in Medford. She had to be in Medford in person in order to get things settled. There was no legal way to handle the business through the mail nor on the computer.
So our little wizard of trickery and disguise returns to Medford with great intentions of outsmarting Hawkman again. Does she get away with it? Jamie faces more danger than she knows -- the ex-boyfriend that she double-crossed and framed for the heist is now out of prison and back in Medford gunning for her. Has she perchance selected the wrong person from whom to hide? Hawkman is trying to save her from Carl Hopkins. A computer nerd of the highest order, Carl follows Jamie through her credit card activities. He also has a few dirty tricks of his own up his sleeves. Hawkman is trying to warn Jamie of the danger she is in, but with her talent for disguise and her ability to evade people she doesn't want to see, he is having a hard time contacting her. He therefore figures that the best course to take at thw moment is to keep an eye on Carl. Much easier said than done. Carl is rather clever himself at disguises and evading the police.

And thus we have an exciting story that entertains us with twists and turns that are loaded with suspense. How super-plotter Ms. La Pierre can come up with these mind-boggling tales is a mystery in itself. May she never stop.

Summary: Bad Girl is Back!
Review: Over a year ago, Jamey Schlyer arranged and carried out a large jewel theft with the help of her partner and an anonymous helper. Leaving her partner behind to take the blame for the theft, Jamey flew to South America where comfort and luxury awaited her. Now there is a prospective buyer for her aunt's old cabin and she feels that if she sells it, her past will be completely behind her.

To seal the deal, however, she must go to Medford, Oregon in person. Now she must choose between going to Medford to sell her aunt's old cabin or her own safety in South America. Will what happened before in Medford come back to haunt her?

Diamonds Aren't Forever is a well-written story that dangles between Mystery, Romance, and Action/Adventure. Jamey is a character that you hate to love, but somehow you find yourself hoping that she'll get away with her capers. The only thing that I felt was dissatisfying about this book was the abrupt ending. Overall, though, this book shines with the brilliance of a thousand literary diamonds. Excellent work!

Summary: Another Hawkman Jewel
Review: The small town of Medford, Oregon will never be the same, not since Tom Casey, aka Hawkman, started his PI business there. His most recent case involves Jamey Schuyler, a beautiful young woman who has haunted Hawkman for the past year as the one that got away --- not quite with murder, although she did leave a corpse in her wake. Jamey, clever miss that she is, used her feminine wiles to coax Carl Hopkins into partnering on a jewel heist, then set him up and ran off to South America with another partner, leaving Hopkins holding the bag --- literally. It seems that Ms. Schuyler planted a bag of diamonds in Carl's pickup just before the cops arrived, leaving her free and untouchable with Carl out of the way. Now, after serving his time in jail, he is understandably peeved at Jamey. He has vowed to himself that, if he ever finds the double-crossing little woman, he will make her pay. Hawkman hopes to stop him.

Hawkman's friend Charlie has been renting a house owned by Jamey, and has become interested in buying it. But it means that Jamey will have to make a trip back to Medford to handle the transaction. Nervous as she is, the lure of more money --- and breaking ties with Oregon forever --- is just too strong and she sneaks into town, hoping her disguise will keep her anonymous. But this time, she has underestimated Hawkman --- and maybe Carl Hopkins too.

Greed can do strange things to a person, and Jamey's gets her into plenty of hot water. Revenge, on the other hand, is a powerful and dangerous emotion. When Carl allows thoughts of revenge to blind him to all else, he triggers a series of events that threatens not only Jamey's life, but Hawkman's friend Charlie's as well.

Betty Sullivan LaPierre has perfected the Hawkman mysteries, blending just the right mix of action and intrigue with down-home neighborliness. This tale, as all of Ms. LaPierre's, gives you several hours of highly enjoyable escape with an exciting wrap-up at the end.

Summary: A Delightful Sequel to Dirty Diamonds
Review: This story really come to life under the capable pen of Betty Sullivan LAPierre. Jamey Schyler decides to see some property she owns in Medford, Oregon. Under normal circunstances that would not be a problem but Jamey now lives in Rio De Janeiro and does not really want to return to the United States. She does return, however, only to complicate the property transfer necessitating appearance again. It would appear Jamey had been involved in a diamond heist some time before. Hawkman, a private investigator, had done some investigative work on that case as well. Her potential return has attracted the attention of not only Hawkman but someone else. Someone who feels they have a deadly score to settle with Jamey. Therein starts the delightful tale of intrigue and adventures where no one is who they appear to be. What happens next? You will need to read the story where you will definately be delighted at the twists and turns experienced with these characters. I give Diamonds aren't forever the highest recommendation possible.

Summary: Another Great Hawkman Mystery!
Review: When Jamey Schyler fled to South America with stolen diamonds, she didn't think she would ever have to return to Medford, Oregon. A private investigator known as Hawkman would love nothing more than to prove she had something to do with the diamond heist in DIRTY DIAMONDS. Unfortunately, she forgot to record the deed to a house her late aunt had left her. Now she has to go back and prove she's the rightful owner, and then slip out of the country again.

Easy, right?

Not hardly. Hawkman seems to be everywhere and Carl Hopkins, the man she framed in DIRTY DIAMONDS, is out of jail seeking revenge. And so begins the chase with Jamey sneaking in and out of the country, eluding Hawkman at every turn. But what she doesn't know is that Hawkman's priorities have shifted from gaining proof of her guilt to protecting her from Carl Hopkins.

DIAMONDS aren't FORVER had me on the edge of my seat biting my nails and feeling Hawkman's frustration at coming close to catching Jamey only to have her slip out reach over and over again. And then there's the shadow of Carl Hopkins adding suspense and danger to another fantastic Hawkman mystery.
