Rating: Summary: The Works of the Flesh Review: An intriguing tale of a man's journey of learning who he really is and what happens along the way. The author does an excellent job of grabbing you from the beginning and never lets go. I couldn't put it down and wanted more when I finally did. Mr. Krause gives a realistic view of the inner workings of the mob and what can happen when someone becomes involved with them. I recommend this book to those who like fast paced, exciting stories with a romantic edge. Mr. Krause has certainly learned the art of combining both.
Rating: Summary: A tour de force of erotic suspense! Review: Attorney Wyn Cash appears to have it all -- a successful career, a wonderful wife and a terrific lifestyle. So why does temptation get the best of him? Wyn falls for a young woman who's too good to be true. Unfortunately for him, she is. He hadn't envisaged that his weakness would lead toward disastrous events... Works of Flesh's constellation of unique characters, wonderful suspense and compelling story are the marks of great skill. I love the way the unlikely characters are thrust together, and the development of this disarming tale is memorable. A truly superb thriller by an obvious talent. I shall give this great book the exposure it deserves. Highly recommended...
Rating: Summary: As a woman, I say that every man should read it too. Review: I took the suggestion of the reviewer from Virginia and bought this book. I'm glad I did. The Works of the Flesh was not only an exciting story. It was also a realistic look at the differences between men and women regarding their attitudes about life and relationships. As a woman, I say that every man should read it too. He might learn something. Buy it for him, you'll be giving yourself a gift. The powerful ending to this book still has me thinking. The back cover says that the author is working on a sequel. I'm looking forward to it.
Rating: Summary: Good novel for first-time writer Review: This book starts slowly with extraneous material that does not appear to advance the plot. Don't be deceived - stick with it because it has a "roaring finish!"

Rating: Summary: Interesting character study Review: Wyn Cash prides himself on being something more than a nine-to-five yes man. Driven to succeed, blinded by ambition and the accumulation of material wealth, Wyn falls victim to the weaknesses of the flesh, neglecting his marriage and his spirit. Wyn engages in under the table business deals, tinkers at law and becomes, as a friend describes him, "slave to the works of the flesh. Keep it up, and the works of the flesh will devour everything you touch." Intricate legal maneuverings, murder, and infidelity each provide a graphic explanation of works of the flesh. Unfortunately, some readers may have difficulty finding interest in a self-serving attorney who left his first wife and child for a barely legal woman ten years younger whom he seems to view as only an extension of himself. Wyn does lay the way, however, for character growth that promises in later novels to be nothing short of a transformation. Rather than a typical suspense novel, R. Troyan Krause creates an intensive character study with the first of the Wyn Cash series WORKS OF THE FLESH. While Wyn will not garner a lot of sympathy from readers, his character growth takes some interesting twists and turns, promising some surprises in the novel sequel. Secondary characters vivaciously come to life, especially Christina. However, readers with strict morals will give her little sympathy either as she has a ten year relationship with a married man. Despite the lack of sophisticated plotting, however, WORKS OF THE FLESH does a marvelous job of exploring the small decisions that change destiny and of capturing the moral and ethical implications of such choices. With an intriguing read in a narrative tone reminiscent of John Updike, WORKS OF THE FLESH comes recommended.
