Determined to bring out the bad, rather than cope with the waiting, Alec flew the plane during the crash that resulted in the death of the man that was both Sydney Shank's husband and Russell Reck's business partner. When he learns of Reck's plans to doublecross him, however, Alec becomes determined to destroy Reck first. Unfortunately, he harbors deep secrets of those days, knowing they will destroy whatever he shares with Sydney. Nicknamed The Wrecker, Reck has been released from jail and plans to take his revenge on Sydney, his ex-wife and the woman who put him behind bars. He'll use anyone, even his own daughter or harmless children, to further his schemes. He plans to destroy everything Sydney loves before destroying the woman herself. As Alec pits himself against Reck, Sydney finds herself drawn into a deadly game that threatens her heart and her life. OF THE MOMENT by Olga Bicos presents a twisting, convoluted path in a romantic suspense novel guaranteed to keep the reader riveted. With complexity of character and motivation, Bicos strikes the heart of betrayal and danger to keep the action fast paced and to keep the reader guessing. With truly dastardly villains and unexpected heroes, HEAT OF THE MOMENT presents a tale of forgiveness and of redemption that will satisfying the most demanding reader. Very highly recommended.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: This one is really a two and a half! Review: I didn't dislike this book. I didn't like it either. The plot idea was good but the execution was fair. Information from the past was given in bits and pieces throughout the book and NOT in the order in which they transpired. This made it almost impossible to put together the sequence of previous events. When did Sydney & Alec meet? How long were Sydney & Reck married before she turned him in? When did Alec come back into town? Had he seen Sydney since he'd been back? I suppose if I'd taken notes it would have helped but who knew it would be necessary? The characters had no depth to them at all. Sydney: Why did she marry her first husband? Why did she marry her second husband? Why was she engaged to Jackson? Alec: His character went in so many different directions it was impossible to pin it down. Was he a good guy or bad guy? Honest or dishonest? Caring or selfish? Rocky Reck: Can you say spoiled, immature, mean-spirited brat? And it made no sense that Sydney would ignore the way Rocky treated her, constantly insulting! And how clueless was Rocky not realizing what was going on with her dad until the very last minute? And she was going to law school? Jackson: Couldn't tell you! This was one of those books that when I was done I felt I knew less about it than when I started!

Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A winning romance Review: Sydney Shanks gave the evidence to the Feds that placed her former spouse Russell Reck in jail. Her stepdaughters loathe her for what she did to "sweet" daddy. Worse, Sidney knows that if the abusive Russell is released he will seek vengeance probably trying to kill her. All Sydney wants is to be left alone to work on her arts center project, but now her worst nightmare begins because the Feds free Russell and his target is Sydney. To make matters worse, if possible, Alec Porter has returned. Years ago, she left the bad seed though she loved him. Alec swears that he has changed and wants to atone for how he behaved towards her and what he has done in his life. However, before he can do anything, he needs to keep his beloved safe from the (w)Reck(ing) crew that want her dead even if it means he must die to do so. HEAT OF THE MOMENT is an exciting romantic suspense novel that never slows down for a paragraph. The story line is faster than an express train and filled with plenty of action. The Recks are a dangerous, nasty lot, almost cartoonish in their ugliness. However, the tale clearly belongs to the brave heroine, but especially her champion, who desperately seeks redemption and a second chance at love, but first he must keep both of them alive. Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: What a waste! Review: Weak characters, weak writing, and a very weak plot equal a waste of time and money. There really is no plot to this book, no matter how hard I tried to find one. If you want to read a book about characters desperately in need of intensive psychotherapy that can't seem to handle any type of normal relationship, then this is for you. On the other hand, if you want to read something with merit, any other book you pick up will do nicely.
