Rating: Summary: Great characters, fast paced, exotic locale Review: What an exciting book! Deadly Design grabbed me and pulled me right in. There's so much to entice you. The book is set in glamorous Fort Lauderdale, so you get to rub shoulders with those yacht owners you usually have to observe from afar. Kendra Kane is not one of those dopey heroines who starts down the cellar stairs when you just know the monster is lurking there. She's smart, loyal, brave, and thinks fast on her feet. She also has some very interesting relationships that make this more than just a fast paced, exciting mystery. I have always been disappointed in John Grisham's novels because they sorely lack in character development. J.D. Maples characters are multi-dimensional and realistic. There's a lot to this book. You're just as likely to find Kendra at an art show as scuba diving in the crystal clear south Florida waters or barbequing with friends and tossing back a few beers. I was sorry when the book was over and I had to say goodbye to my new friends.
